As an ekit user I’m bummed, but I just watched the solo demo and I’m really sold.
June 16, 2015 at 12:05 am #448157They should just let us make up the whole guitar part up in a song with our plastic buttons. It would be even moar awesome. Ugh, I just now imagined how brutal the last half of Free Bird would be to sit through.
Sorry, I just hate this feature.

My God, think of how much more fun are parties with you in them! ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_biggrin.gif”>

That seems way complicated. I can’t even do skittles charts or weird strum patterns with gaps in them. How will I master this crazy arcane system?

The people I play with care more about the music than gimmicks. I would kick someone out if they came over and tried to play over an Iron Maiden solo with that useless new solo feature while I was singing. I’ve already had to ban guitar effects switch and miss sounds. Oh, and I don’t let people pick whatever songs they want all the time. Needless to say, people love me.
Ooh, almost forgot the Lenny Kravitz ban.

Lenny Kravitz ban…..June 16, 2015 at 3:58 am #448190Anybody know if they removed “Awesomeness Detection”? If I don’t have this feature at launch then let the pitchforks come out from the shed.
June 16, 2015 at 10:51 am #448207Well, like for many other RB4 disappointments, there’s something in C3 to make up for it. Awesomeness Detection is in cPlayer
June 16, 2015 at 12:14 pm #448217As for the new solo feature… No thanks. I can only imagine the annoyance when an amazing solo like the one from Hitch a Ride comes up and instead of hearing it in all its glory I hear random solo button mashing that sounds like shit (judging from the video, the samples being used sound like shit). The thought is horrifying and is yet another thing to be disabled while playing just like drum fills and the anooying sound effects switch. If only vocal taps and BREs were allowed to be disabled as well.As I said elsewhere, this feature is basically going to be like pro drums, where it has the potential to sound and feel amazing when used by someone who has a sense of timing and rhythm and can marry it with the song, and will be horrible when someone flails like an idiot every time the lanes come up.
Kind of like actual guitar solos.

If I wanted to make up my own music I would’ve kept up with learning guitar instead of giving up on it and just playing Rock Band. All I want to do is play along with my favorite music with the actual audio that made it my favorite music in the first place playing in the background. Guitar solos and drums fills, in many cases in songs, are some of the standout moments for me from the original recordings (also explains my not ever wanting to hear live recordings of my favorite music). Maybe I am in the minority on this.
Also, I am sure it feels equally amazing for people to just hit 100% the notes on screen where a drum fill would overwrite. Or 100% a fun, challenging solo instead of playing whatever you want in rhythm with the song. Always feels good to me. Different strokes I guess.
Kind of like actual guitar solos.Agreed on this. I much prefer a well planned out solo such as my previously mentioned Hitch a Ride or Stranger in a Strange Land by Iron Maiden than a lead guitarist just showing off how fast they can play. Would still rather play along with the original solo as recorded, no matter how well thought out the notes were, and consider this new “standout” feature a total waste of time.
June 17, 2015 at 12:23 am #448287I don’t understand it well enough yet to comment. Wait.. I just commented. Now I’m confused.
I have a feeling that it could be fun as a novelty but that it won’t get used much after the novelty wears off.
What would be OK is if a song’s solos were rated as to difficulty and it would activate automatically and dynamically only for solos that are too difficult for your skill level.

Nope – your definitely not alone there… that has always been the same for me too…. Live recordings (with one or two possible exceptions ) seem to be excuses for bands to do their own thing and know because they are playing to a throng of people who have paid to see them – they are likely to lap up whatever is thrown at them…. (on their knees , we’re not worthy gig).. when in actual fact, it sounds ‘loose’ and simply lacking the refinement of the studio original..
To my mind what RB4 should include as an option (and more as a solo player feature) , … is that which I believe they they have in Rocksmith – where the the game seamlessly changes the difficulty level ‘in-game’ – in tune with how well the player is hitting the actual notes… not too sure how the scoring would work though , this being a game and not tutoring software (ala RockSmith) is probably why my suggestion may be slightly ridiculous ….! Thought it might be worth airing for discussion though…
June 17, 2015 at 12:11 pm #448323I’m just glad that they won’t screw up the leaderboards (according to the HMX reddit user, nordee) and they are optional. It would be fun to mess around with or have friends use it.
June 17, 2015 at 2:43 pm #448336I like the feature as presented, and I like improv vocals, but that’s because I feel I can play them without them sounding brutal.
I turned free-form fills off though because I always did the same fill as I do not have the creativity drums may require. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_wink.gif”>
