    RELEASED FOR PLAYTEST

    Sent to playtest on June 29, 2013

    Older discussion follows…

    OLD STATUS (Updated June 23)

    I am actively working on this song, and it has achieved enough momentum to bring it to completion. I’m posting here to avoid someone else duplicating this effort.

    Finished so far:

    * Vox/harmonies

    * Expert Guitar (first pass)

    * Expert Drums

    * Expert Bass

    To do:

    * Difficulty reductions

    * Venue

    * Animations

    * Dry-vox

    * Pro Guitar offered by columbo777

    I’m working from a new mix of my own devising, at just under 6 minutes. It comes from the 8 minute album version, but cuts down the solo wankage in the same location as the shorter radio edit, but adds a definitive end that those mixes lacked (having fade-outs, both).

    I realize that some people specifically *want* the solo wankage, but I think more people out there just want to belt out the lyrics at parties. <img decoding=” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_wink.gif” /> To that end, I think I’ve achieved a good compromise between the two mixes.

    I’ve edited some of the intro audio to align it with tempo and bring the guitar forward. Additionally, I already tend to frequency-band my customs to get a pseudo-stem for drums, since drums and vox are what’s played most in my house. Given the mess of the mix at the end, it looks like I may even get out my (real) guitar and double the second solo so that it’s obvious that’s the part that’s charted!

    Seriously, it’s a hell of a lot of fun! <img decoding=” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” /> Would’ve been my choice over “Radar Love”, honestly.

    SCHEDULE

    I don’t have a date in mind, but with all of the Expert parts plus Vox/Harm already sketched in it looks like this one won’t be stalling out!

    BACKGROUND

    I got the idea to do it from this thread viewtopic.php?f=4&t=269 where someone shared a Expert drum-only custom by “Blitzbob”. While testing it out, the missus came in and asked if there were vocals, so eventually it fell down to me to add them. <img decoding=” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_wink.gif” />

    Well, it turns out that the drum chart was lacking in some regards, and I felt that the fade-out shouldn’t be allowed to stand, so I started over and made my own edit and mix of the song with tighter tempo map, and went from there.

    Finished Expert Bass.

    Might give Guitar a whirl, if I can figure out which of the guitar takes to follow as “most fun”.

    Hey, cool. I’m off visiting family for a week, so I don’t have access to my files at home, but you can pull apart the .mogg from my latest test version:

    Note that I’ve done a rough frequency banding to make a drum stem that cuts out the high and low frequencies when you mess up (since drums and vocals are my main instruments), so you’ll have to recombine the stems to get back to a listenable mix.

    Any other feedback on the current charting is cool, too! Thanks.

    Wow, great job on this so far. I see I misunderstood. I can do the PRO guitars, perhaps we can reverse engineer a 5 button from that?

    Well, mostly it’s that in parts I just have to decide which guitar line to take, since they have two guitarists *and* they do overdubs. I suppose the natural impulse is to take the most “lead” one, but it’s also good to mix it up for variety.

    I’ll figure something out: back home now and ready to give it a fresh look.

    That said, a Pro Guitar chart would always be welcome!

    Well, I already set up the PRO project on my HD, so its getting a PRO. In the SOLO, follow the LEAD at all costs. Other than that, I PERSONALLY hate switching between the two, but HARMONIX ALWAYS did that. So you can go either way. But other than the solo, just follow the loudest in the mix.

    Excellent! I might get a start on the 5-lane parts soon… or do you think I should wait until you’re done to match your Pro chart?

    It’s WAY easier if 5 button is done first. please proceed!

    Hrm? Confused as to that notation…

    Pretty much Bm/Em/F#m most of the time, Bm/A/G/F#m on the chorus. Stay down around the 2nd fret and use open D string on the main riff, from what I’ve seen of their live performances.

    its guitar tab for the repeating riff

    Second fret on A (i.e. :cool:, Open D, second fret of D (i.e. E), open D, Second Fret on A (:cool:, open D->hammer E->pull-of D

    I have also seen it as (same notes):

    7 fret on E (i.e. :cool:, 5th fret on A (i.e. D), etc.

    its a matter of which resonates better. I’ll have to pull out my Fender and see what I like better…

    sound like you are talking about the verse chords.

    I see Bm/A/G/F# and Bm/Em/F#m also!
