Hi all, I’m introducing a new concept in the big packs arena. There are a handful of bands for which I would be willing or I already worked on a few songs from almost each album, giving a great chronological representation of the band’s production. Now, that makes for huge packs which we generally discourage because too many resources are focused on a single week. However, as a once or twice a year event it can give us the freedom to cover all the relevant songs from an artist and not spread the songs over a number of weeks, which wouldn’t probably go down well with users who are not interested in the artist. Also, this pack, and any future Chronicles pack I will present, starts from a solid base of already authored songs, in part or in their entirety, meaning we don’t need to collect resources to do this.
With that said, I’m introducing what I think would be a great Chronicles project for 2014: Genesis Chronicles. I already authored guitar, bass and pro keys for a number of songs, other authors have worked on a few others and the whole pack would really represent the band in a perfect way.
Most famous Genesis songs are already covered but any author who’s interested in autoring a Genesis song not already on the list is extremely welcome. My idea is to wrap up the pack by November 2014, giving us ample time to organize and coordinate. I’m attaching a link to a spreadsheet with status of all songs which I invite you to fill if you want to do more songs but, extremely important of course, not to be divulged in any way. I’m also listing the songs here for easy reading.
Thanks to anyone who will be involved in this.

A quick note on The Lamb… I would REALLY love to go the full album way or bust (or at least disc 1), however I understand it’s a pretty lofty target. For that reason *I* have not done any song, except for Carpet Crawlers which need work, but please feel free to add songs from the album if you want to.
January 5, 2014 at 8:02 pm #411684I have a few songs I’m interested in authoring:
Tresspass
The Knife
Nursery Cryme
The Return of the Giant Hogweed
Foxtrot
Watcher of the Skies
Selling England by the Pound
The Battle of Epping Forest
And if we do end up doing “The Lamb Lies Down on Broadway,” I’d love to do “In the Rapids” and “It.” since I have a guitar chart already for “It.” and “In the Rapids” comes right before it.
I’d also be interested in seeing “Dinner’s Ready” from Foxtrot, though I don’t know if I’d personally be able to author that beast.
January 5, 2014 at 8:04 pm #411685Awesome, material from albums I haven’t covered is so great to have, plus excellent choices!
January 5, 2014 at 8:05 pm #411686I would be happy to help with finishing up Land of Confusion if you want

Also, GK, you can add your songs to the spreadsheet, I believe it’s fully editable, if not let me know.

It shows up as “View Only” for me.
January 6, 2014 at 8:35 pm #411732I’m happy to do drums on Turn It On Again and Invisible Touch. Plus Land of Confusion, if Nightmare wants a hand. Those are my three most-wanted Genesis songs. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_biggrin.gif” />

Alright, put me down for I Can’t Dance drums then. I only do ten-minute songs if they have the words “Dry” and “County” in the title. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_wink.gif” />
January 7, 2014 at 7:25 pm #411789Hi guys. I am going to be a collaborator for this project. Thanks to Farottone for letting me be a part of it.
I’d also be interested in seeing “Dinner’s Ready” from Foxtrot, though I don’t know if I’d personally be able to author that beast.I would love to do the keys part for Supper’s Ready, if that is one of your concerns. If there are certain parts you want to commit to maybe we can cobble together enough people to make it happen. I’d be willing to “author” it but I’ll be chasing people for help, or if someone else wants to author it I can contribute the K/PK parts.
I have done four songs that are not in the spreadsheet, pro keys expert only; “In the Cage”, “The Lamia”, and “Anyway” from Lamb, and “After the Ordeal” from Selling England. I’m easy on using the Lamb stuff or sitting on it until/unless we want to do a dedicated Lamb project. After the Ordeal I can add to the spreadsheet.
Farottone and I already discussed doing Fading Lights and Driving the Last Spike; I was going to do Keys on Fading Lights and G/B/K on Spike. I can add those in. I’m also going to look at keys for Tonight x3.
I had heard that another member here had started on an I Know What I Like custom, so I have held off on starting that one until I hear more. If we need to start that one from scratch I’ll get working on it ASAP.
Three albums we have nothing from right now are Trick of the Tail, Wind & Wuthering, and Abacab. I can add one song from each of these for the sake of completion if nobody else ends up volunteering one. I’ll wait a bit for that.

I can try to contribute guitar to that song. It’d be great if we could team up and release this, similar to how “Albuquerque” and “Amerikka” were done, because IMO it’d be a shame to highlight Genesis, include prog-era Genesis and not have this one.
January 7, 2014 at 7:59 pm #411796Remember there’s a Supper is Ready GBD FoF chart. The guy who did that is usually not bad (still an FoF charter, though) and even though things would need to be fixed, it is a very good starting point probably.
January 7, 2014 at 8:02 pm #411797Also, I’m gonna cover From Genesis to Revelation. I don’t know which songs I will do but probably at least 3.
January 8, 2014 at 12:22 am #411812Found a treasure trove of MIDI files here:
http://web.agria.hu/kepenu/genesis.htm
Listened to a few, they are not all perfect, but probably a pretty good start (sadly they faded out Moonlit Knight before the ending which is what I was searching for).

I would still use Sonsterr first, but yes, I got a few from that Web site.
