So I downloaded this custom from the forums that was made a long time ago. The song is Rock You Like a Hurricane by Scorpions and the author is Velvien. What I noticed about the custom is that is has a tempo map issue where the audio is slightly earlier than the chart itself, so it makes it more challenging to play. The original author I have mentioned hasn’t been on this site for a long time so this issue has yet to be corrected.

I want to fix this issue, but I am a beginner with this stuff and I want to take this as an opportunity to start learning how to tempo map and then eventually make my own customs. Any tips and suggestions to help me get on track?

Honestly, in my opinion, you would be better off learning tempo mapping from scratch. Fixing a tempo map can be tricky

I find DoNotPassGo’s method works best for me

A little play on this method – I found its best to create a drum stem and tempo map the drum stem. If you need more clarification, let me know

Since you want to fix up this one song, take the time to learn how to make a Reaper file of the song from the C3ConTools. Once you get that, you can start changing things, and learn how to mess with the tempo map.

But, and this is a big possibility – if the chart is off by a little consistently, it is possible that one track got nudged a little before compiling, and that is all off. You can nudge that over and line it up.

In other words: Maybe the tempo map is already good, but the guitar track is off (and everything else fine). You slide over the guitar notes, use the tools to compile, and it is fixed.

Or, maybe everything is off by a hair, so you simply move the audio track a little, and everything will line up.
