This is where I’ll be listing all of the customs I’m not finished with, along with a list of what will be added to them before I’ll consider them “complete.” That’ll usually consist of adding tracks, events, and cleanups. I’ll be providing a link to the CON file, as well, in case anyone would care to playtest these, or doesn’t care if certain tracks aren’t charted yet.

Franz Ferdinand – The Dark of the Matinee

    * Using Eraserhead’s chart from Scorehero for a tempo map and bass chart

    Still Needs:

    – Vocals Track

    – Review bass chart

My wife loves this song. She will be stoked if vocals get added. (I quite dig it too, but I’m more of a “Darts of Pleasure” man).

Awesome song pick! Props for taking this one on.

I played through the drums and have some feedback – feel free to take it or leave it.

      – The main thing I noticed is quite a few green crash notes are missing (or are accidentally charted as something else). The very first cymbal that starts the song, for example, and during the transitions between verse/chorus, etc.

      – The snare drum pattern (where it goes R-R-R-R) throughout the song, I think some of them have 1 extra note at the start of the pattern, so it’s actually R-R-R-R-R. I don’t think every single one of those patterns does, but maybe like every other one (so like 50% of them).

      – There’s another snare drum pattern that shows up with the R-R-R-R patterns, usually during the first half of the Verse, that’s charted as two reds (R-R), but I think some of these also have an extra note at the beginning – so basically (R-R-R).

      – At the end of Verse 2 (“Verse 2C” to be exact), the beat changes up and plays a pattern where it’s like a group of 2 yellow or blue hi-hats. Something like YY-YY or YY-YB. I think the second two hi-hat notes (YY or Y:cool: are charted one step too early… they should be back just a wee bit (if that makes sense)… I could be mistaken on this one though.

      – During the bridge, it seems in the beginning some bass drum notes are missing. Then towards the end, it seems the red snare notes (ie. the “clicks”) are missing (although they’re charted fine earlier in the bridge).

Overall though, it looks pretty great… none of the stuff above is egregious, but if you’re looking to refine the drum charts, it’s one way to go.

I’m not a drummer, and I’m charting this by ear. Thanks for letting me know that I need to be paying more attention to what’s a crash.

      I’ll give these another listen.

      Agreed.

I’ll listen to it again, but if memory serves, the clicks either fade out later in the bridge, or the crash just overpowers them to the point where I can’t hear them.

      Thanks for the feedback!

Any time! If you’d prefer, I can even quickly show what I’m talking about on the rpp directly, and you can keep the changes or not. But no worries if you’d rather not – some people like to chart diy-style, which I totally understand.

There’s the RPP. Normally I’d want to do it myself for the experience, but I think observing the updated chart would be a good idea. Thanks for all of your help, by the way!

Any time! I know what you mean, I totally feel the same way about most things (doing it myself, that is). But hopefully this helps.

Here’s your rpp back. For someone who says they’re not a drummer, you did a really good job (and doubly so if this is your first song). I made a few of the adjustments mentioned above, use ’em or throw them away as you see fit. Headphones really helped with certain sections.

I think the only part that’s fairly different is the “Verse 2C” section starting on measure 56… took me a few listens to get what the timing really was.

One more note – the chart switches to 3/4 timing briefly at one point. I’m not sure if that’s needed (although I’m sure you had your reasons), but I’m also not sure if it really hurts anything.

Good luck with the rest of the charting. Once again, awesome song pick. <img decoding=” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
