I have a file for Sultans of Swing by Dire Straits in the .con form, but it doesn’t have harmonies. Is it possible for me to unpackage it in Reaper, add harmonies, and then repackage it for RB3?
First, let’s clarify something to avoid future misunderstandings. They are CON files, not .CON files. CON is not an extension, it’s just a package type. So they are extensionless files.
Yes, you can do what you’re saying, but the fact that you’re asking makes me think you’re not ready for it.
You can:
1) import the CON directly into Magma: C3, then modify the MIDI in REAPER to add Harmonies, adjust the Magma project accordingly, and recompile
or
2) open the CON with C3 CON Tools, extract the audio and the MIDI, add the harmonies in reaper, replace the MIDI in the CON file and edit the songs.dta file to reflect that now it has harmonies
Either one of those processes require you to do a lot reading up, since that’s not exactly the ideal starter scenario for learning how customs work. But both have been discussed in one way or another in the forums before…do some research. Maybe consider how badly you want harmonies added to that song.
