Lately my dryer has been taking two cycles to fully dry a normal load of clothes. I checked the lint trap and it’s clean, but nothing improved. Could something else be causing the issue? I’m not sure if I should call a professional or try to figure it out myself.

That happened to my dryer too. It was super frustrating until I figured out what was slowing it down.

One thing you might want to investigate is the dryer vent itself. Even if the lint trap is clean, the venting duct can build up lint and debris over time, restricting airflow. That restricted airflow makes the dryer work less efficiently and take longer. A service like residential dryer vent cleaning services can really help clear it out professionally. I tried doing it myself with a brush kit, but it didn’t quite do the job. Once I had a team come in, the drying time went back to normal. They also did a quick safety inspection, which gave me peace of mind. It’s one of those maintenance things that’s easy to overlook but makes a big difference once done. You might want to look into it, especially if your vent hasn’t been cleaned in a few years.
