good stuff. what kit do you have ? i think the standard notes work with the adapter so even if you can’t reprogram it could work perhaps. also for the foot thing i was referring to keeping time with it more than just opening it occasional for the blue. while doing like a tom groove or hitting the ride. i’m not the best at that but no song really does that to my knowledge a few do with a yellow showing up during snare rolls etc. i saw another post about a hi hat pattern with snares with the hi hat. it’s either error a drum machine or probably the foot pedal….

At the moment, I’m just using the ion module. I have a bunch of drum modules here including the Alesis I/O, a Yamaha, an Alesis DM10. The drums are just an old CB kit I had and converted them to electronic. Where I’m having issues are the songs I play in real life lol. Muscle memory tells me to do a certain thing but the game wants me to do something else haha

how much for you to replicate and ship to me?

Haha,,,, hard to put a price on this. I started with an old CB kit I wasn’t using anymore and converted it to electronic. It’s not hard, just time consuming.

since I’ve been playing and charting customs for the last 6 years I think I’m in it for the long haul. Might as well have the kill to justify it all

lol welcome to video game drumming! for years my non drummer friend who is just good at games i guess was always beating me at guitar hero drum duels…which i do miss…was like our own fight club for a while…

i would always mess my multiplier up with something i would just be accustom to hearing in the song. not that the charts weren’t accurate. mostly it was my drum pedal being too sensitive and me being more into the song than playing it right…probably some showmanship there too…now i think i can take him!

I will try that with my pedal and see if it works. And since I played drums for many years before RB, it’s automatic muscle memory for my foot to lift for open hi hat lol

i was the same way. i have to look at my ekit pedal again for that. you could do it with gh drum pedals for sure…

sorry i should have said my ekit or some ekits are programmable and can do these things. and yes for your second part. not necessarily the song is too fast cause i play some slower ones but yes it doesn’t switch to blue in time so it’s still a yellow hit.

mine is a real working hi hat stand with the cymbal on top with like a sensor in the ring of the cymbal. works with pressure i think. so maybe i have to work with the height of the open hat or something but just a pedal might work better for the degrees of open and close….where is mine has to sense being off the stand ring…

personally i preferred gh open hats where they were a pause. only song on rb that does this is black hole sun – by soundgarden to my knowledge. the gaps are so big and perhaps cause it’s the first game in the series that’s how they were doing them back then. then someone come up with the idea of charting them blue. but nobody really makes the gap by taking a yellow out. so that’s why i can’t open and close it quick enough…so like the pic up top i have a blue beside my hi hate for open….works but you won’t train your left leg timing but again this is a game that’s not perfect…

I finally got around to doing it

My old cheap MPS-200 eKit doesn’t support remapping midi notes, so I followed the suggestion of creating a bypass with a laptop. I figured out how to create remapping rules in Midi-OX, so I created one rule to change all 46 notes (open hihat) to 51 (ride), and another rule to change all 44 (hihat pedal stomp) to 0 (no note) so that pressing the pedal wouldn’t register at all (normally it registers as a yellow cymbal). Some songs require to stomp the hihat pedal so I will have to remove that rule.

Now, the remapping worked but when I tested in-game the majority (like 2/3) of ANY note would not register, making it unplayable… I thought it was my old cheap laptop causing problems or delay but Midi-Ox was showing all notes correctly also to output and instantaneously.

Then I had the right intuition! The culprit was the old cheap USB-midi cable (in case you haven’t caught the pattern yet… I am an old cheap guy!). This is literally a 7$ cable with 2 midi plugs on one end and a USB plug on the other. The fact that notes were correct but not reaching the game made me think: what if the laptop is so fast that the cable cannot handle almost instantaneous input and output? So I added an extra 1 millisecond delay in Midi-Ox and BAM! no more dropped notes

Being able to use the hihat pedal is a major deal for me, except that now of course all my scores are dropping to abysmal, as my mind is f*cked up having one more limb to coordinate… even Heart of Glass which is one of my favourite is a total wreck for me now This is the third time I have to re-learn how to play drums, the first was when I dropped basic drums for a real eKit, and the second when I decided to switch crash and ride for a more realistic setup. Well at least I have enough practice to do for the coming winter

yeah i have my hi hate pedal set to yellow when it’s pushed for those few songs you can cheat and use your left foot even though i feel the authors didn’t intend it to be like that. don’t recall any songs where you should be keeping time with hi hat while doing something else and if there is it’s not authored that way cause rb plastic kit people wouldn’t be able to do it…

you just addressed my fear as well…here i am playing blue as a separate hit on another pad though i feel open hi hat hits should have delays except when playing metal/punk….i haven’t been able to get my hi hat to work fast enough to play open blue notes….but if i could then yes my scores would would deminess some as well

i can’t remember the last time i really played like that as i normally rest my second foot on my double kick cause i don’t ever have to open it :argh:

Well I am no real drummer but I thought it was a legitimate technique!

An example is Björk – Human Behaviour, where you have quarter hihats and sixteenth snares (some with extra rebounds) at the same time. First I thought you needed to just play hihat normally with the right hand and snare with left, it seemed impossibly fast on the snare but I just assumed I am not good enough. Then I saw on YouTube that people with real drums (not RB3) play this song using both hands on snare and doing hihats by pressing the pedal only.
