Of course some people are real dicks, I won’t give any name because I have no idea who on this forum is concerned. I was not trying to make you angry in any way, I’m just considering reading the rules is one of the must-do things to know the do’s and don’t’s of questions to ask, just so you’re sure
And as such, you refer to them the rules and end the thread there. Easy done.
January 25, 2017 at 4:21 pm #480575I do have to agree, I’ve seen some folks go a bit too far when it comes to telling someone to read the rules. Won’t name names or anything, but it seems that some folks expect everyone to know how forums work, when in all actuality not everyone does.
On subject, I’ve had that issue with Mediafire with the pop-ups, even using ad-blockers. As thus, I switched to Mega. Only then Mega seemed to be inaccessible to a lot of people in Europe it seems. Eventually I got access to my keepitfishy database back and just started using it to save everyone the headache.
I second the DropBox suggestion. It seems like the easiest option for sure. If you have way too much for that, though, there’s Google Drive as well, though I’ve never personally used it for anything other than documents, so can’t attest to how well it works.
January 25, 2017 at 4:26 pm #480576If you think that wasting people’s time by not reading the rules is the best way to go and people should be all happy to deal with someone who can’t be bothered to read or learn but that will ask others to read and learn and then explain, I’m pretty confident you won’t find a welcoming environment on any forum.
I’m gonna be very forward: this community is a ton of work to sustain, admins are few and we all have busy lives. If you intend to make our lives harder you won’t be posting for long. And if you think we are all such bad persons who are mean to each other I suppose we would only do you a favour not subjecting you anymore to this hellish place.
January 25, 2017 at 4:44 pm #480578I’m not going to tell people to stop using MediaFire, but I too have had separate tabs open up with those hostage pop-ups that only go away when you close your entire browser when downloading from there.
Just something to consider.
January 25, 2017 at 5:41 pm #480581Do you use an up to date browser with an ad blocker? I suggest uBlock Origin rather than Adblock Plus.
Please take this suggestion seriously. I don’t see a single ad on any mediafire page because I’m using uBlock.
Keeping the content Canadian since 2017!

MrPrezident: https://db.c3universe.com/songs/all/__user/MrPrezidentJanuary 25, 2017 at 5:49 pm #480582i’ve also noticed the ads on Mediafire – typically it’ll open a separate tab when starting the download, and the previous download tab will then turn into a malicious-looking ad, though none of them seem to have done my computer any harm as of yet. Google Drive, Mega, and Dropbox all seem like viable alternatives, so it’s probably just up to preference which one you want to use.
re: the off-topic issue, i don’t think it’s too high of an expectation to find/read the rules or other important information, considering they’re at the top of every section and often with all-caps saying things like “READ ME OR DIE.”
besides, where i come from, people just get banned when they don’t follow the rules. usually just for like a day or so initially, but still harsher than just getting reprimanded and having your thread locked like what usually happens here. you don’t have to get your feelings hurt over being told you broke the rules, just learn and move on and avoid doing so in the future.

Then you’ve been lucky, because I use the same software and it still happens from time to time.
January 25, 2017 at 6:12 pm #480584I’ve been saying people should ditch MediaFire for years. I hate it. Specially now that I stopped playing, all I do is every couple of months spend an hour or two batch downloading customs so I can have them on my end. Imagine how fun it is when those 120-200 customs I download are mostly on MediaFire, with multiple clicks, ads, and after a certain number of downloads, Captchas.
January 25, 2017 at 8:03 pm #480586just use jdownloader
January 25, 2017 at 8:21 pm #480587As someone who for years has paid for web space so you (the community) can download the C3 customs and tools without having to deal with any ads or annoying processes, “just use jdownloader” is a shitty response. Each uploader should provide a painless way for people to download their stuff. I sure do for you.

The guy spending hours to work on a song is the least required to go the extra mile, honestly. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif”> It’s good if they use a system that makes it easy to download but if they don’t, people who are benefitting from their work can endure a couple of banners. If not, well, there’s always the option of not downloading. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_wink.gif”> Again, kudos for those who go the extra mile, but definitely not something the guys who provide free content owe to those who download said free content.

Couldn’t have said it better myself
January 25, 2017 at 10:01 pm #480594Eh.
I authored a bunch of customs. I converted a bunch of GH songs. I have spent thousands of hours creating the tools used by most authors. I still spend my time helping farottone moderate these forums.
And I still provide ad-free hosting for the files
Most customs authors could use Dropbox, which is ad free and usually one-click link. Only very few people NEED the extra space of MediaFire, and those have been offered ad-free hosting space on my server as a thanks for their contribution to the community. More than a few of those people who have been offered ad-free hosting space have refused it and chosen to stick with MediaFire

This right here, Adblock Plus has severely decreased in effectiveness due to the owners allowing companies to pay for their ads to be whitelisted, among other things. uBlock is a much more “powerful” adblocker, almost to the point of being oppressive.

This is a proper response from someone that’s gets it; thank you.
I’ll have to also look into Google Drive or Mega too since everyone mentions that.
