All my wired mics don’t work now due to excessive use and I can’t find anywhere locally to buy new ones. I saw I had a Lips mic from back in the day and tried to turn it on but I have no idea how it works. Do these mics work with Rock Band 3? If so how do I set it up?
I use one exclusively. Just turn it on and as long as you have a controller turned on, the console should find it automatically (and unceremoniously). I’ve never had a problem. My only complaint is that it doesn’t automatically shut off when you shut off the Xbox. I usually pop the battery to stop the LED from blinking for the next 45 minutes.
Yes they work, I have lots of them. 3 work together perfectly, only needing one controller.

Agree with not automatically shutting off. Press and hold the bottom button for a count of 5 seconds, and the mic turns off. Confirm by single press of the button, should flash the white lights only.
Also Press and hold the bottom button for a count of about 6 or more seconds to begin sync process. double blue flash IIRC
Nice to know. Maybe my batteries are shot, but the lights do light up. I just can’t figure out how to get it to pair up with Rock Band. Is there a certain way to turn it on?
You need to have a standard controller on.
Edit: Oops, already suggested.
Yeah I did that and RB3 doesn’t recognize the mic.
I presume it’s synched to the Xbox itself?

Do you mean you tried my 6+ second button hold method to sync with Xbox? At the same time you have to press the sync button on the Xbox itself, just like doing a controller.
I found that lips mics don’t sync if on the dashboard, specifically I was in system settings/storage copying files. So best do it in game with a profile signed in on a hand controller, not an instrument.
The lights should flash various patterns the entire time they are on. ie: on/off, low battery and blinking. But they don’t flash in time with music in rb3.
Got a chance to hop on RB3 today and got it to work! Thanks guys!
