So I’ll be using this thread to document my progress to chart every single song published by the band The Dear Hunter. Also, feel free to post feedback below (especially for drums and vocals, as my drums broke awhile back and I lost my microphone).
I plan to chart each song’s instruments for Expert, then when an album or Color EP is finished, I’ll go back and do vocals, harms, reductions, and clean up any errors for the Expert chart.
There are a lot of these songs, and they’re all a pain to chart (between very densely layered music, occasional lack of live footage, and extreme scarcity of completed tabs/playthroughs/MIDIs, there’s not a lot of reference material), so there might be lengthy breaks between releases!
Also there’s a chance I might get bored with working on The Dear Hunter and chart a track or two from a different artist ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_wink.gif” />
On 1/31/17, I released my first custom, City Escape from Act I: The Lake South, The River North

Holy hell, I’m so fucking hyped for TDH as customs. I’m so glad someone’s going through and putting up their songs! Thank you, sir!

Haha, thanks. I’ve been slacking a bit on 1878, to be honest, but it’ll be out soon! Promise.

April 28, 2017 at 7:31 pm #4845011878 instruments are finally done! Holy hell, this took awhile. I got to the guitar solo… and put it off… and put it off… and put it off… so hopefully I didn’t err too much in it. On the other hand, it is basically just Casey fucking around for like 45 seconds on a guitar, so it’s reasonably difficult to chart.
May 22, 2017 at 5:59 am #485356So excited to see this band get some custom work done. Cant’ wait to try these out tomorrow.
I don’t have the chance to play very often so I’m not a good guy to playtest. BUT I know the music really well and I’d love to offer any input or help with charting decisions. Especially for drums (my main). For whatever that’s worth.
May 22, 2017 at 10:51 am #485358These guys were FREAKING AMAZING live. I just saw them open for Coheed in Pittsburgh. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_biggrin.gif” />
Would you like me to give these lower difficulties?
May 22, 2017 at 5:12 pm #485375Nice! I also saw them open for Coheed. I felt kind of bad because nobody was really excited or paying attention to them when they were playing, and you could tell they weren’t happy. They rocked nonetheless, and I’m excited for more customs!
May 23, 2017 at 8:19 pm #485416Our crowd knew who they were. They were excellent! That Beatles outdo they did tho!

Eventually — in addition to working on Pimp & The Priest right now, I’ve started reworking the City Escape chart in a different template that actually has trill and tremolo markers. I think I need to do the same with Inquiry for the last like minute or so. Either way, help with reductions would be appreciated once I feel good about the X charts!
Also I don’t know what part of Cleveland you’re from, but TDH headline shows usually come through Akron or Cleveland. Places they like to play include Grog Shop, Beachland Ballroom, and some place in Akron of which I forgot the name.

Worry not! I’ve just been busy with work and adjusting to my new schedule. Don’t worry, though. I’m shooting for Father’s Day to have Pimp and the Priest done. Also, as I said above, I’m working on cleaning up the City Escape charts right now. Also gonna be figuring out vocals for it, which is a massive undertaking given Casey’s philosophy on the human voice — he uses it as another instrument, basically, so the hard part with charting vox for TDH is charting all the backing vox and the “oohs” and “aahs.”
