Whenever I try to use a 2-lane cymbal swell roll on drums, Magma gives me an error.

ERROR: MIDI Compiler: (PART DRUMS) Difficulty expert: Gem at [524] comes too late after previous gem in roll. Must be within 225.00 ms.

This has happened in more than one custom project I’ve tried to make, and I don’t know how to get rid of the error other than just removing the cymbal swell altogether. The gems are within 225 ms of each other, so it doesn’t make any sense to me.

I would say to just use 1-cymbal rolls really, the 2 cymbal swells are broken as fuck.

Check that every single note is as close as needed, I have never seen that error show up when notes where correctly spaced. M524? Wow, that’s a lot of measures. <img decoding=” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif”>

I’ve changed it to a single-lane roll with all green cymbals instead of green/blue, but now it’s giving me the same error but demanding 165 ms instead. I don’t want to make the roll faster than it should be to get around this. I don’t think any notes would be less close than the others, they’re all aligned to the 1/16th note grid.

Is the BEAT track correct or is your tempo high enough? This happened to me when I tried to add a trill lane to a song at 80pbm.

Tempo has nothing to do with roll lanes giving errors. Roll lanes are all time based, not beats.

As for the issue OP is having, it seems the notes are too far away from each other. Maybe double up on the notes (as in squeeze them closer together; i.e. 32nds instead of 16ths). And see if that works. If it doesn’t there may be something else wrong not related to swell lanes which, in my experience, I have had happen to me before.

Also if you’re doing a swell, don’t only make one cymbal on a roll lane, always use the 2 lane roll for 2 cymbal swells.

I decided to just up the speed of the roll to 1/16th triplets, which seems to satisfy the compiler. There’s no real rhythm to the cymbals since it’s a swell, so it could easily be charted either way as triplets here still aren’t too fast.

However, using a 2-lane roll still causes it to spit out an error.

Still, 16ths at 80bpm is much much less dense than 16ths at 160bpm is what I am saying.
