August 16, 2014 at 11:55 am #427186I do plan on continuing making songs & they will be Spindoctor quality, not C16.
If you aimed for C16 quality you would have no customs because he doesn’t chart at all. So do what you do because it is better than nothing at all. I wasn’t suggesting you stop nor did I say your contributions aren’t appreciated.
That being said, I resent the implication in your response that I’m playing favorites. I am constantly checking the forums on my phone, so I see virtually every post. I don’t have the time to or care to respond to them all, but some pique my interest. In this case, farottone and I worked hard to put together the album art repository, so when someone has time to write lengthy replies as to why they will continue to do things as they have been, while saying they don’t care to spend 30 seconds improving the quality of their work, it bothers me. You dismiss metadata and album art as non consequential, but if it was so, you wouldn’t even bother with Wikipedia. So you do care to some extent, and so I don’t understand the lack of desire to do it better like most authors try to do.
And you’ll never convince the guy who has spent over 1000 hours making and constantly refining the tools to make it easy to make your customs be as high quality as possible that any part of the process is not important. Which is fine, you don’t have to convince me. But if I work 10+ hours a day, take care of a house and be a husband, son, brother, uncle and friend, and still find time to work on the tools for you, I will always expect you to use them. Every time you don’t, I die a little inside. True story.
And for the record, C16 gets my ranting and bitching too. You just don’t see it because he has the “pleasure” of getting it unfiltered either in person or on Facebook. Nobody is safe.
August 16, 2014 at 1:29 pm #427190Guys, the rule is simple, taken from the forum rules:
You can ask an author to put more effort into polishing a song but if they say they only want to do so much, don’t insist. Violations of this rule will result in warnings, probations, and possibly bans.If he’s already said he’s not interested in looking for the original album art, that’s it, don’t bother him anymore. Tools for improvement are easy to use and available to anyone: those who are annoyed by the lacking of some features can chip in and eventually offer the original author more polished versions. Besides, it’s not even remotely a functional feature, so it’s not like gameplay is affected. We have driven away authors in the past because of nitpicking, that’s why the rule is in place. Asking once is a very good policy, asking again and again is not, even more so when it’s about something marginal.
August 16, 2014 at 2:52 pm #427193Pretty stoked for that Boston track. Every time it comes on the radio I think I should play it when I get home, briefly forgetting it wasn’t available. I think that makes all of the major Boston songs available except maybe Amanda?
August 16, 2014 at 5:00 pm #427200I guess I benefit from knowing almost all the songs that have been released as official DLC and automatically knowing whether an album is already in the game or not, since I followed the DLC announcements every Friday for 6 years. I can usually tell by looking at a song these days if I need to check its album file versus a an older/official release’s album file. Maybe spindoctor doesn’t have that benefit and that’s fine. But it’s not difficult to switch from looking through Wikipedia to the album art repository and I think it would be worth it to you!
August 16, 2014 at 11:03 pm #427220With drummerrockband’s ok I ran this song through CAT, added overdrives to all instruments & fills to the drums, I have no way of testing the drum parts but the other instruments play very good & he did a great job of charting this. It has 3 part harmonies as well. It is a very fun song & sure to be a hit & parties for the people who like country music.

October 9, 2014 at 7:16 am #430731Hi I’m new here to the forums and I just wanted to ask, what keeps your customs from being “C3 standards”, I always hope for these songs to pop up one friday but they never do, but then I find them here!

As long as the song is in sync with the notes that is good for me. They will have flaws but they are still fun to play.
October 9, 2014 at 2:05 pm #430747Wait, Pro Drums? That really shouldn’t be left out considering how simple it is to do and how big a part of the game it is at this point so please do reconsider your policy on that point in particular

That really shouldn’t be left out considering how simple it is to do and how big a part of the game it is at this point so please do reconsider your policy on that point in particularFor you it may be simple but it is SEVERELY WRONG for you to tell anyone that it is a simple thing to do.
Do the guys/girls that make drum only charts care that I don’t play drums & then chart the other parts for me?? Not friggin likely!!!! Singing & guitar is what I play & that’s a big part of the game for me & many others that play this game we love.
If I told you the songs you make suck & they are not what I play would you make some I like???? Again not friggin likely.
I have had these types of discussions with you several times & you just don’t seem to understand that I don’t really care what you think or say but here you are again telling me how I should do things. You & a few other moaners/bitchers about how I do things have cured my urge to do any more conversions or release songs I have made for myself that others might enjoy. Nothing I do seems to be good enough for you!!!
October 10, 2014 at 5:11 am #430820I’m very grateful for the offerings you have bestowed upon us Spindoctor. You and Nunchuck have given a HUGE amount of Guitar Hero and new custom songs for us to enjoy and I hope future converts are not over yet. Its great to see people who have a passion to put a ton of work into making these songs and are not seeing a freakin cent out of it.

Everybody calm down. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif”>
The best way to address a request you can’t or don’t want to satisfy is to explain you won’t do it. If you are really fed up, as you seem to be, with requests, ignore it, don’t go on a rant. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_wink.gif”> I agree that everything is subjective and doing pro drums is not a simple thing at all if you don’t know how to author drums, but just ignore the request or simply say “if it’s simple for you, here’s the RPP project, I’ll gladly accept the contribution and credit you”.
