Hey, guys. I have a question.

Is it possible to create RB3 custom songs in Editor On Fire?

      #449895

It is possible, but when you’re finished you will have to edit your chart in reaper in order for it to work correctly in Rb3.

It’s worth mentionning that EoF doesn’t handle well non x/4 time signatures, there’s ways around right, but Magma may not like them. EoF doesn’t have Pro Keys supports too.

Overall I like EoF, but for RB you should stick to Reaper. EoF is mainly maintained for RS.

The last couple months’ worth of hotfixes months actually should work much better in this respect. EOF even now properly handles time signatures internally and during MIDI import/export and even has some features to fix charts that have wild BPM changes. The new “BPM>Time signature>Convert” function allows the user to specify the real time signature on that beat and EOF will recalculate the appropriate tempo to leave the beat timings intact.

This still leaves no pro keys or harmonies support as the greatest two limitations in EOF’s Rock Band authoring capability.

Oh cool. I haven’t really screwed around with EoF since I converted that unusual song (or should I say band) using the hotfix you posted last time. Worked well with midi import, didn’t know you made it better :o.

Might be time for some RS content…

          To be clear:

          – Absolutely yes, you can author using EoF and it’s a great piece of software.

          – Absolutely no, you can’t do away with then using Reaper.

If EoF is your thing, use that to author anything you like, but get acquainted with Reaper because it’s needed. <img decoding=” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif”>

            Thanks, guys.

Well, I got some start like Reaper and Magma to chart some songs. You see, I wanna do some songs for RB3 b/c I am new into this type of thing since Phase Shift and FOFix.

I use Editor on Fire and then import it to Reaper.

And I believe pro guitar is more easier to do in Editor on Fire but I would do pro guitar but I have no way to test it.

If you have a MIDI pro adapter, you can add the pro upgrade to your console, launch the chart and watch it play through. Otherwise some people have been using the Wii version in an emulator as an easy way to preview or make screen captures (viewtopic.php?f=18&t=3225). You can also run pro guitar charts in Phase Shift, although that won’t tell you if the chart is going to malfunction in Rock Band. RB3 has some pretty strict requirements that will crash the game if not met.

Is there a way on how to add EOF charts to use on Reaper?

If you mean porting an EOF MIDI to Reaper, the best option is to enable the “Save separate RBN files” preference in EOF. Then when you save it will create an RBN format MIDI that omits unsupported features that are specific to FoF or Phase Shift. It will also throw in some bare minimum essentials required in Rock Band customs like some default drum mix events and a BEAT track. If your chart has pro guitar/bass, a separate MIDI and a template DTA file (which you’ll have to edit to enter some specifics) will be created to make it easier to build the pro guitar upgrade package. If you need to author animation/harmonies/pro keys type stuff you’ll need to bring EOF’s MIDI into Reaper to add those features.

I think it is very hard to do customs on the Wii emulator, i don’t have a copy on the wii so i have to find one i guess.

I do have some electric keyboards so if any of them are midi i would be able to play pro keys?

I also did find the Rock Band 3 MIDI PRO Adapter for about $50 and the postage is free.

Just looked at that, for me it would be $32.03 and it said it would come to me in 3 weeks.

Also would pro drums show up so i can do them in my videos?
