I decided to have a go at “Best of Both Worlds”, but ran into a problem with tm’ing the drums around three minutes in. At the end of the guitar solo, there’s a big fill on drums that goes into the quieter part with just kick and hi hat, but I can figure out the tempo of the fill so that afterwards the kicks stay lined up. I’m bad at explaining. You’ll see if you take a look. Here’s the audio and rpp.
Thanks to anyone willing to take a look. This is the first time I’ve had trouble with tempo mapping in a long time.
First thing is notice is that your audio is a quarter beat off. In a Rock drum beat, the snare hits on the 2 and 4… right now you have yours hitting on the 1 and 3s. That first Crash hit should be a position 3:0, not 3:1 as you have it. I would first go back and fix this. You may have to re-render the audio as you have the count-in done already.
1) Move the original audio to where it should be.
2) Shift the Tempo Map up one beat so it matches.
3) Shift all your midi notes up one beat.
Once that is fixed, we can get to the problem you had.
That later Crash you have charted out during the fill (measure 84:2), that needs to hit on the downbeat of a measure. Thus, the easiest fix I can see would be (assuming you fix the first problem and everything is shifted early one beat) would be to just make measure 83 in 5/4 time instead of 4/4 time.
This will extend the measure one beat over to that crash, and let the rest of the song match up.
I have done this song but really got stuck on the tempo map at the end of the song and the guitar was above my pay grade. So if you want to take a look at my work in progress and compare it to yours, here’s the files.
FWIW, the guitar kicks in at 2.3.5 and that puts the first crash at 6.1.0
Wow. Thanks a ton man. You really didn’t need to do all that. I appreciate it. I’ll definitely make sure to give you credit when I release the custom… whenever that’ll be. Thanks again.
