What method do you use to at least partially compensate the volume decrease during a fade-out to make it audible a bit longer?
I’ve seen the thread about using Audacity, but I would rather keep editing in Reaper if possible, since everything else is there and I am also dealing with multitracks.
In Reaper I’ve tried to open up the volume/envelope editor for each audio track. It allows to draw an envelope freely or draw a linear change in a track section up to +6dB, but I wasn’t able to actually hear any difference or see the waveform visually change (I also tried the “glue” command, which was mentioned somewhere, but it seems to have no effect).
Unfortunately, you might not be able to get what you want in this case. I’ve successfully reversed fades a few times (including a new release coming in a few hours!) using Audacity, but no such luck using only Reaper.
Give in. Use Audacity for the fade-out, then just replace your original audio in Reaper.
The regular volume envelope does only go up to 6dB, however you can also add envelopes for FX. By utilizing “JS: Volume Adjustment” you can go up to 150dB.
I think it’s silly to be editing any audio in Audacity when you’re charting in a literal DAW.

I certainly wasn’t aware of this plug-in, thanks!
I can see that you selected “visible” and “arm”, what is the mean of these options? With the basic envelope adjustments I only ticked the “volume” checkbox, maybe this is why I wasn’t hearing any difference…
Is Reaper supposed to also show visually the changed waveform?

REAPER only shows a modified waveform when you’re using “pre-fx” versions of the volume, pan and (stereo) width controls. The pre-fx version of the volume control also only goes up to +6dB, which is annoying for doing unfades, but seeing the waveform change in realtime as I’m fiddling with the envelope is enough that I’ll split the song into multiple tracks just to have that much extra control over the volume *and* see the results in realtime.
Thanks, I was able to do even better than I expected with that JS plugin!
