It’s awesome that you guys were able to collaborate on these songs. “Fall to Pieces” was one straight from my VR wish list, and that Disturbed track is one of my favorite cover songs ever (although some may cry blasphemy, I dare to say that I enjoy it even more than the original by Genesis). I could just imagine the possibilities if more of the “indie authors” (what I call you non-official C3 guys) combined your areas of expertise like this.

I wish that I could at least get good enough at one aspect of the process so I could contribute myself, but every time I try to figure it out I seem to hit a wall. Just like my guitar playing IRL, I think I would need some individual guidance to put me on the right track. I guess I’ll just have to wait until they open a C3 School for Aspiring Authors (or the ‘C3SAA’). Hey that could be a thing, right? :ohdear:

If I can ever help you (with my limited knowledge), don’t be afraid to PM me – seriously. I’d really like to see you start a “MyCool’s Customs” thread!

Ha, right now “Mycool Customs” is the name of the folder I keep all my rb3con files organized in. Thanks for the offer to pick your brain. I may take you up on it if I decide to give it another try. One of the things I want to learn most is how to chart vocals. Whenever I get a few people together to play we usually don’t mind taking turns if certain instruments are missing, but someone ALWAYS wants to sing (especially if adult beverages are involved). Unfortunately, in my limited experience trying to learn, charting vocals seemed most difficult for me to grasp. I actually do have sort of a general question about that, but I will PM you when I am not so tired and can formulate my thoughts better. Thanks again for all the great songs man, they’ve brought us much joy. May we all live to rock another day!*

*it sounded profound in my head but in my defense it has been a very long day

Thank you, Farottone. As one of the most kind and helpful people here in the forums, that’s very generous of you to say. Your posts are friendly, concise and always without rancor and your myriad contributions to this community are far more valuable than I think many people here realize. Witnessing sunny spots like you and several others in this great community, I think the desire to share and help just grows naturally.

I would love to add Drums to some of your Alice in Chains songs, mostly “Dam That River” and “Dirt”

Any AIC with FB would be great.

All-American Rejects – “Night Drive” and an announcement

Recently a first-rate forum drum author and I teamed up and committed ourselves to creating four customs for Show Floor consideration. This one drum author is sharing dozens of drum charts that could and should be turned into “Show Floor Material”. I personally have another 10 customs “almost ready” and more lined up, but there’s a ton of other great forum customs that might only need V/H, G or B (plus a little spit ‘n polish – and maybe keys) to be considered for Show Floor release. It begs the question: Should I continue to release incomplete customs into a forum already brimming with incomplete customs?

When I look at the download statistics of the customs I share, the numbers don’t lie: Full Band Collaborative Customs are overwhelmingly more popular than the ones I share that are missing an instrument. The real eye-opener was seeing one of last week’s collaboration customs rocket to over 100 downloads in four days. That is completely unprecedented for me. It’s over 140 right now and that is 75% more DL’s than the closest incomplete custom I share (Papa Roach @ 81 DL’s six weeks after bass/redux update).

With that in mind, today’s update will be the last “weekly release” in this thread. That’s not to say there won’t be an occasional forum release; there will, but for now I’m going to re-channel the bulk of my efforts away from starting new customs from scratch. There are a lot of folks who only get their customs through official C3 website offerings. I believe that the Show Floor is our best chance to get some of our outstanding forum customs out to the people and I’ve decided my time and energy is better spent trying to aid that cause rather than deliver incomplete customs on a weekly basis.

Thank you all for your support, kind words and enthusiasm over the past four months and make sure you’re subscribed to this thread for any unscheduled releases or pleas for help from keys authors. :what:

Colonel I totally get why you are shifting your efforts to focus more on getting more full band customs out to the maximum number of people as you explained. My question is what happens to the partials that you’ve done that may never make it to a full band release? Will you ever share them if they don’t make it all the way through the process for whatever reason? The reason I ask is that while I think everyone prefers a fully developed custom, those that only have vocals & guitar are still a whole lot better than not having the songs in any form. For example, your AiC tracks (among many others) are some of the most popular songs when we have our little RB get togethers, even though many of them are not full band. I would hate to think that we’d be missing out on many of those gems if they didn’t get the full treatment.

Any “nearly finished” songs that I have are missing harmonies, drums and/or keys and I need to add bass and polish. When I want to direct them toward the Stage Floor, I will be contacting drum and keys charters in an effort to make the custom as complete as possible. If the song, when presented to the sponsors, does not get picked up (within a yet-undetermined amount of time), I imagine I will pull it from consideration and release it here. If I’m working with the same goals on someone else’s custom, I guess it would be up to that person. I’m assuming there are a lot of submissions to the Stage Floor and far fewer sponsors, so the waiting period for an acknowledged sponsorship is unknown to me. What I do know is that the amount of detail that goes into a C3 release is amazingly intricate and can be incredibly time-consuming, so these sponsors’ plates are full.

If you or anyone else wants to chart drums for up to four unreleased AiC customs, let me know and I’ll shoot you a line when they’re ready. If anyone wants to put drums into any more of the AiC I’m already sharing, let me know and I’ll send you the files. Also, anyone considering charting more AiC but needs help with V/H/G/B, just PM me. I’d like to see every AiC song become a custom!

Yep, for sure! Having all of you great charters working together on bring out some full band customs is an awesome thing to see. I love this community!

Cannot wait to see what comes from this, I will admit I will only downloaded EMHX FB customs, and hearing your focus is moving in order to only release this type of custom, well it can only be a good thing for the community.
