NEW RELEASES 10/18 – Chicago Chronicles Part III (Chicago III 1971)
Giving birth to a project is never easy but here we go with my 3rd pack all from Chicago III. My MVP this time around definitely has to be bsbloom. His timely contributions enabled me to release this much sooner than I had anticipated. I also had many last minute helpers so many thanks to the rest of my collaborators who are listed for each track as well as Sideshow for the video previews.

This tune is funky from start to finish with a blistering outro guitar solo from the master Terry Kath.

A short but sweet tune with a jazz swing beat and fun organ solo.

This is Peter Cetera’s 2nd writing credit and first great love song. It’s got a country tinge to it.

GUITAR: bsbloom
DRUM SOLO: Kloporte
5 LANE KEYS: StackOverflow0x

Also know on the album as the travel suite part 1 is an acoustic Crosby Stills and Nash inspired ditty, followed by a face melting drum solo and finishing with the best known song on the album Free!

This song peaked at #20 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. For those that just want to get to the hit song you have your option though I highly suggest you play the entire suite above.

Latin/jazz inspired number with an outro flute solo that will slay all you key meisters.

GUITAR: BearzUnlimited
5 LANE KEYS: anglebracket

Another funky tune with dueling trombone solo in the middle which I had to only the most prominent solo at any given time.

The other hit on the album peaked at #35 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.

This is an epic song about the birds and the bees. Never has such overtly sexual lyrics been put to such beautiful music. There are many moods and movements throughout with something for everyone.

Added a bunch of 80’s tunes to the list. I recently started to appreciate the poppier side of Chicago so expect more than a few to be added

So it’s been one year since I announced this project and after reading my initial post where I said “I don’t expect to spend a year or enlist 17 authors” here I am one year and 16 contributors later. Never thought it would come this far but I’m very happy with the work done and the people who’ve stepped up to make it a reality. I promise to all you Chicago fans and newbies that I’m educating it’s only the beginning………. only just the start :clint:

I know it’s outside of the scope of this project…but any chance of some sappy Peter Cetera solo tunes piggybacking on the end of this behemoth?

I just counted and I’m up to 76 songs and only half have been released. I’m also so anal about Chicago that I’m insisting they all be full band so I promise you nothing but at least I added a bunch of 80’s tunes I never intended to do

For the record, the Chicago V pack is the one I’ve been waiting for since AJFOne23 announced this thing. I’m pumped.

NEW RELEASES 11/21 – Chicago Chronicles Part 4 – Chicago V complete album!
This is the only full album I am going to do and it is universally regarded as their greatest complete work. Credits listed below as always but special thanks to anglebracket and narutostarwars123456. And Mr. Bearz 11th hour contribution as well

A very proggy hard rockin’ album opener with a nightmare keys chart which concludes the solo section with all 3 horns soloing at once.

GUITAR: bsbloom
5 LANE KEYS: anglebracket

A beautiful midtempo number which Beach Boys inspired harmonies.

5 LANE KEYS: anglebracket

Thunderous drum intro, 5/4 bridge and saxophone outro solo from hell.

This is the 2nd most well know track from the album. Part one is a duet between Terry Kath and Peter Cetera. An edited version of the song was released as a single in October 1972, eventually reaching #24 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100.

Dark riff with great harmonies and a mean guitar solo.

The one you all know and love. Saturday in the Park was very successful upon release, reaching #3 on the Billboard Hot 100,%5B1%5D becoming the band’s highest-charting single to date, helping lift the album to #1.

A funky tune with subtle complex drumming throughout by the master Danny Seraphine.

This song was the one that inspired me to learn how to author. It’s probably my favorite Chicago song of all time. Very jazzy throughout.

The closing track is a beautiful piano guitar ballad with soulful vocals by Terry Kath. There is no bass in the song.
