The first track on Billy Squier’s debut solo album, the song sets the pace for what would follow for years to come – catchy chorus, larger than life vocals, power riffs and stadium-pounding drum beats. While “The Big Beat” was never on the charts, the song became a sampling staple of hip-hop music, appearing in well over 250 different recordings.

Thanks for the donations, we’re off to a tremendous start, let’s keep this going! Only one day into this and we have —

Hello! Looks like I’m back already to bring you more Chart-a-Thon goodies! There were a few songs this year that got me nostalgic, as well as one that I hadn’t heard before this year but fell in love with it this year. I hope you enjoy some tracks I picked out!

Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch – “Good Vibrations” authored by drummerockband
Ah yes, that feeling when your brother gets all the music fame from being in a boy band. Mark Wahlberg (yes, THAT Mark Wahlberg. Known for movies like Ted, and the iconic Daddy’s Home and it’s sequel) thought he could get music fame as well, and thus “Good Vibrations” was born, and was a hit! His only hit, in fact. It’s not only The Beach Boys who are rockin’ the Good Vibrations you know! (That is a totally different song by the way). Give this one a listen if you don’t recognize it by name. You might just have some good (or possibly bad) memories of the song!

SHAED – “Trampoline” authored by drummerockband
I don’t really remember hearing this in 2018 when it first came out, but now I feel like I can’t escape it at all in 2019, and I love it! Here’s SHAED’s hit “Trampoline” that’ll be sure to make you whistle to the tune constantly. The song gained popularity after Apple used it in their MacBook Air commercial in October 2018.

S Club 7 – “Bring It All Back” authored by drummerockband
Here’s a late 90’s song that’ll get all you 90’s kids going “I remember that song!” (Well, at least if you listened to Pop radio ) Here’s S Club 7’s Rock Band debut! Their first single from their first album, and their most popular song (I’d say) is now here. For me personally, this would seem like a perfect fit for Band Hero, but it fits in Rock Band just as easily! Prepare to have this stuck in your head the rest of the day and/or Chart-a-Thon event

I didn’t even know Mark Wahlberg had a band, and I thought “Good Vibrations” on the schedule was a cover. TIL! And thanks for the songs!

Wahlberg was actually Marky Mark before he became “Mark Wahlberg, Serious Actor”. Not entirely unlike Will Smith, he straddled the line between music and acting for a while, but where Smith still flirts with a music career now and then, Wahlberg has turned to Hollywood full-time.

“Good Vibrations” was such a big hit that Mark Wahlberg could have probably lived off the royalties for the rest of his life if the acting thing didn’t work out.

As some of you know, MrBeast from YouTube started a fundraiser back in October to plant 20 million trees by the start of new year! Each dollar donated equals one tree to be planted next year.

I thought of the new fundraiser and my current projects… “I should chart this devil tier vocal song that has been on my WIP for forever to double to cause!”

So, after donating only 90 cents to the American Cancer Society right here (as well as below), check out MrBeast on YouTube for more information on #TeamTrees.

MrBeast if you’re reading this, send money pls

From the breakthrough album Hooray for Boobies, “Three Point One Four” was originally called “Vagina” but the band was forced to ‘tone it down’ for the album release, and chose to rename it after a shortened version of pi.

I love how they decided to tone the name down, but still named the album “Hooray For Boobies”

Whoo, here we go again isn’t it?

I have 10 releases for the event this year, only hits, no misses. This is the first one of them, GO PUNK YOURSELF PART 2!

Before anything, please watch the trailer on Streamable (YouTube blocked it) HERE

Now let’s get to the goods.

I got 5 songs from 5 different countries, and I promise this is pure hasard!

    fPXFXMm.jpg

First off french punk band Bérurier Noir returns with a gruesome song about a homeless woman and her child who is blindfolded. We eventually learn that it was because the woman placed beetles on his eyes, which ate them. But hey, TRUMPET SOLO!

    0FhpJXv.jpg

What is punk music without a political statement of some sort? Brazilian band Legião Urbana played a capital role in the alternative scene in the country, with songs that felt engaged. I recommend that you watch Somos Tão Jovens, a movie about the leader, Renato Russo.

    LeftZPj.jpg

Yep, it’s not just about Old Town Road (Why take it down HMX I had a good streak going />.>” title=”>.>” class=”bbcode_smiley” />). Lil Nas X’s latest EP features a surprising but welcome variety of genres, and this Pop-Punk song is probably my favorite of the bunch, featuring none other than blink-182’s overly-tattooed drummer Travis Barker!

I discovered the japanese band Missile Girl Scoot through the Suicidal Tendencies collab album Friends & Family Vol. 2, where they had 2 songs featured, one of them being this song. Sure, the english pronounciation is not on point, but the song has an alternating ska/metal/punk vibe going that is sure to get you jumping.

    KBGYsaS.jpg

Belgian singer Plastic Bertrand is often regarded as the one who brought the francophonic punk scene to the mainstream audiences with this cult classic. The song was recorded in english with the same musicians but a different singer under the name “Jet Boy, Jet Girl”, famously covered by The Damned.

Next up is IMMCTNTJK who will, in 8 hours, say his line. Speaking of Simpsons references, that band…
