Colonel_32dumbass over here fractured his left wrist a few days ago.
One of the very few things I use my left hand for when charting is scrubbing the vocals. The default shortcut for doing that is alt+left-click and hold on the cursor where I hold down the alt key with my left and control the mouse with my right. I’d like to make the default simply a right-click/hold or something similar where I can scrub one-handed with just the mouse. Anyone have any idea how or even if I can do that?

Make sure “Edit cursor handle” and “left drag” are selected from the Context drop-downs, then set “Default action” to “Scrub audio (looped-segment mode).”
April 18, 2016 at 2:03 pm #467251I just got a new laptop last week, and scrub mode is not working the same way as it did on my old PC. I copied all of the “Preferences” settings on all tabs exactly as before; I’m wondering if maybe this is the culprit. Hopefully this will also fix my problem.

Thanks, Bearz, that works great!

July 17, 2017 at 7:46 pm #487924I can’t get scrub to work. When I left-click on the top as shown in nyxyxylyth’s video below, nothing happens.
I have my preferences set like his at 7:55, but my Reaper settings visually appear slightly different. I’m using the 32-bit version of Reaper 4.22. If anybody could help, I’d appreciate it. Timing vocal phrases is becoming tedious
Here’s a screenshot of my settings:
In the comments he says: “Yes, I missed this in the video: — check under Editing – Mouse Behaviour that it’s set to “scrub (looped-segment mode” by default. Reaper defaults to Jog.” But I can’t find that exact heading. I go to Editing Behavior > Mouse Modifiers but I don’t know what to do once there…

I don’t understand what I could be doing wrong or not doing right. I’m just supposed to left-click at the top of the screen and drag left or right, correct? I try that and it just moves the view of all the tracks. Any combination of keys I hold down while doing that (ALT, etc.) doesn’t change anyth–
OKAY I FIGURED IT OUT.
I didn’t realize you had to grab the triangle. Nobody told me that
Thanks for your help!

July 18, 2017 at 11:26 am #487983Nope, all good now… definitely wanna find some hot keys, though, because, yeah, having to replay sections and move the cursor a lot is cutting down on efficiency. Nonetheless, I pitched vocals on two songs last night, so prepare to see an updated Inhaler from Chainsaw Octopus and another one I’m not sure if I can reveal or not… ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_biggrin.gif” />
(but it is an artist from my request thread… just not one of the suggested songs!)
