CAT reductions don’t work properly for keys?

yaniv297KeymasterHey,
So I’ve been messing with some CAT reductions. Guitar, bass and drums work fine. However when I try keys, this is what I get:
As you can see, hard seems ok, but medium is identical to hard, and easy stays empty.
Anyone knows this bug or what I’m doing wrong?
Also – does CAT reductions work on Pro Keys? I’m confused. The menu says ‘5-Lane reductions’, but the drop down options include pro keys. But when I click on it nothing happens.
Thanks

FarottoneKeymasterYou probably have chords that are illegal on guitar, a bug I haven’t gotten around to fix yet. The inclusion of pro keys in the drop down menu is a mistake but you can reduce note density once you have reduced 5-lane keys, after that you only need to reduce chords for H and E.

AtruejediParticipantHe charted drums to keys. For science.

Hmm… too early for that haha
At this point I’m just messing around with midis – converting them is much easier than I thought. If I think the end result is good enough to be posted here, it will be… so far it’s looking good haha

Thanks! Those are Green+Orange chords, right? There’s definitely a few there.
I changed all the ones in the hard difficulty – but still medium ends up the same. How do I fix this? Do I need to remove them from expert too?
And do everybody here does Pro Keys difficulties manually?

FarottoneKeymasterYou can’t reduce actual chords to 5-lane with code, simple as that, for everything else there’s CAT.

Do the 5-lane key reductions to your satisfaction, there is a CAT button ‘reduce pro keys note density based on 5 lane’ which mimics your reductions to the pro keys to some degree and then double check everything. The nice thing about checking prokeys reductions is you can do it by ear, just turn on the piano FX (because the rbn preview obviously doens’t work).

AtruejediParticipantGlad I stopped in here. I also tried to reduce a normal keys part and it had no effect, so I checked and, yeah, I had some chords that were unequal lengths. Fixing that problem made it work like a charm. Thanks for the info!

So I’ve been using this, but curiously this button just stopped working… on two different songs. I have a complete pro keys chart, plus keys in all difficulties, I click this but the other pro difficulties stay empty. Any idea why?

Fat HalpertParticipantMake sure the expert notes are copied to the lower difficulties before you click it.

Yes Fat Ha1p3rt is correct – here is the order I do keys with a midi
1. Pro Keys X
2. Paste that chart to H.M.E pro charts
3. Paste into the keys chart, do the reduction by reducing chords to three notes or less, moving everything UP into the expert lane
4. CAT the Keys chart, check the reductions (this is critical)
5. Finally – then hit the reduce pro based on 5-lane button. (check those reductions too – 9 times out of 10 they are good).
Cheers
