People asked for it, so here it is. Before I start, I’ll write up what my requirements for taking any song for reductions, so you can know what to expect.
First off, biggest of the big thanks to farottone and trojannemo for making all of this possible. We’re no longer in the stone age of charting and metadata management thanks to this two guys and their tools. Check out the C3 Automation Tools. and CON Tools, they’re essentials. Also, thanks to troipoison for helping me learn how to record dryvox (vocal animations). Without this skill, this thread would be short by more than quite a few songs! He’s got his own thread here.
Above all else, it has to be a song I can like. Next, it has to have all the instruments charted. In the very least the RB1 core 4 instruments. If it’s a keys heavy song but it’s not charted, I won’t hold it against the song too much. If it does have Keys, and Pro Keys, I won’t be able to reduce the Pro Keys, not at the moment at least. Lastly, camera cuts (venue). Most everything else I can work out on my own.The end result will have everything I listed above, as well as instrument animations so the song will play and look like a standard song. Of course, alot of these are much older customs and they’re not nearly as good as C3 customs. I don’t know anything about charting, so whatever I find is what you’ll get here. As long as it fits in with at least Rock Band 1 standards, from a player’s point of view, I’ll do it.
A lot of these songs I made some changes to since the first time I posted them. Fixed file sizes and audio levels, tried to do better reductions. Also, whenever applicable, I match album art to existing Harmonix and C3 releases so everything matches for you in game. Some of these songs had the wrong metadata. Some of these songs I grabbed from random spreadsheets. I’ll credit original authors where I can. I also fixed how the songs appear on your Xbox HDD because a few people asked for it, so it flows with customs that show Artist – Song name, rather than “song name” like Harmonix did.
I’ve edited the thread with with hyperlinks over the Band and Song’s name to make them easily searchable within the forum. Song credits to their authors and and links to their threads have been bolded.
If you’d like to post your own CAT reduced files, I’d appreciate if they’d meet the requirements I stated above.
Former Contributions
MaybeTowlie did a custom of Pixies – Where Is My Mind. I had previously done a CAT reduction of this, but he did his own. Link to his version. His version also includes un-pitched harmonies! Official C3 release is out now![/s]

Looks like it has Pro Keys charted but not regular. I don’t know if the Pro Keys is EMHX, I don’t know how to reduce Pro Keys yet. Needs Overdrive.

Thanks to troipoison for the great dryvox (lip animations on singer)! His thread can be found here. Needs Overdrive.
Red Hot Chili Peppers – Venice Queen
Really proud of this one. Recorded my first dryvox for this (thanks troipoison!), so it has lip animations. I have a bunch of other songs I can now get to with this new skill.

I added dryvox on these 5 songs. All courtesy of xlxAvaricexlx, his thread here.
Only thing I did here was add dryvox. Courtesy of Saint Harri, his thread here.
Red Hot Chili Peppers – Don’t Forget Me

Courtesy of mrmet2087, his thread here. Worked with troipoison on this one. His thread can be found here. He did redid the overdrives on this, so you have to actually earn your gold stars on this one. I did reductions and gave it a better quality file for the album art.
Queens of the Stone Age – You Think I Ain’t Worth a Dollar, But I Feel Like a Millionaire
Courtesy of thespike, his thread here. The original version has a long intro with a fake dj introducing the song, but there’s nothing to play for a minute into the song, so I shortened the song and with alot of help from troipoison and trojannemo, the song synches up as well. Also had to redo the dryvox as a result.
Guitar Hero 6 convert! I had this sitting in my incompletes folder, so I fixed it up and made it playable. Recorded dryvox for it and redid the audio cause the vocals stem were really low. No CAT reductions since it’s all the GH charts. I made sure the album art matched the same file from thespike’s Interpol – Evil.

9-11-2004 update: Fixed previous issue of Bass not reducing correctly.
April 23, 2014 at 5:34 am #418627Do people really have an issue doing reductions, aside from taking some time? Most of the time I can finish them in about an hour. It’s relaxing, in a weird way.
Also, nice seeing something I was involved in on the list (vox/harm for 96 Quite Bitter Beings).
April 23, 2014 at 5:48 am #418628A lot of people don’t care enough to click a few times and do what C16 is doing for their own songs, much less spend hours charting reductions manually. It’s undoubtedly the most tedious part of the charting process and can feel like a waste of time if you only play on expert. But the survey data clearly shows reductions are important to the people downloading our customs, so C3 songs will always have them.
Unfortunately, no matter how we try to convince those that don’t want to do it, or how easy farottone made it with CAT, some people just don’t care enough…
And it makes me a sad forum troll.
Thanks to C16 a lot of songs have now been improved and made accessible to those that can’t play on expert with a combination of CAT and C3 CON Tools. I hope others follow suit.
Between MIDI Cleaner, MIDI Tester, CARV, CAT, and the album art repository, there really is no excuse to put out shoddy customs, incomplete customs, or customs with album art or metadata that doesn’t match existing songs.
April 23, 2014 at 8:01 am #418634Thanks for sharing these songs, but I don’t like CAT reductions, specialy on drums, sorry
April 23, 2014 at 8:28 am #418635Ooo nice, also could someone tell me on a scale from FoF to RB2 Era Harmonix how good those Rush charts are?
April 23, 2014 at 9:00 am #418638Thanks for sharing these songs, but I don’t like CAT reductions, specialy on drums, sorryBecause people use the tool to cut corners, exactly the opposite of how it should be used. To me it’s even worse than not polishing the song: if you choose to take the time to do reductions, with the exception of very few songs (like Dream Theater’s and such), using CAT will take you no more than 10 minutes to do all instruments properly, instead of the 30 seconds it takes to just click on a button. If you just click on a button or don’t even bother changing settings, for songs with complex beats it won’t give good results but just a starting base. Not commenting on any single song because I didn’t download any, but the fact that you can say “CAT reductions” as if it was a signature feature makes me cringe even more about that CAT icon that has come to signify “I just pressed a button, results may suck”.
April 23, 2014 at 9:05 am #418639^ haha at the i just pressed a button part.
April 23, 2014 at 11:26 am #418648Hey C16, can’t thank you enough for going through and doing these. Out of curiosity, what kind of quality control is there on these songs? Like, will you run it through CAT and see if it makes any sense on easier difficulties, or have you ever decided to scrap any songs because the notes just don’t correlate to anything anymore?
I haven’t had a chance to try any new customs in about a month and I’m really interested to know how well the system actually works.
April 23, 2014 at 12:19 pm #418649Thanks for sharing these songs, but I don’t like CAT reductions, specially on drums, sorryThen don’t get them and stay with the expert only versions, because that’s obviously better.
CAT is intended for authors to click and then spend a few minutes polishing the results. If you don’t like what C16 is doing, blame the original authors who decided they didn’t want to do proper reductions, they’re the lazy ones.
C16 is not using CAT how it should be, as i said above, but I think automatic reductions are better than no reductions…and if nothing else, get them because he’s fixing the metadata, album art and audio levels.
April 23, 2014 at 12:24 pm #418650To be perfectly clear, I have nothing against automatic reductions being added without giving them a look and nothing against C16’s versions which I never checked, I’m just replying in his thread becasue the discussion developed here. All I’m saying is IF you see a bad reduction done through CAT, it’s not the tools’ fault. There’s no such thing as a “CAT reduction” because this is not a tool for users, it’s a tool to assist authors, who should know how to produce lower difficulties charts. CAT is an aid: if you’re an author AND use it blindly, you’re doing it wrong.
Now, C16 is not an author and he is kind enough to do the dirty and quick work for the people who are satisfied with what in a lot of cases is a very good reduced version, but what in some cases is simply not good enough (any fast upbeat tempo will result in no snare hits on medium, in example, those need to be put back in with a simple ALT+C). But, again, please don’t consider 3 months worth of work on those tools just a way to make people press a button because NO tool will ever reduce correctly any of the thousand different patterns of a song.
April 23, 2014 at 1:06 pm #418653Nunchuk, I moved your post here so we can leave this thread to C16’s reduced songs.
April 23, 2014 at 4:34 pm #418665Awesome, thanks for making this thread. Downloaded 5 or 6 songs from here.
April 23, 2014 at 4:56 pm #418666Anonymous-snip-I agree a lot with this post.
Also, I am still working on getting Python and CAT working on my computer still because I do wish to use it and am wanting to use CAT for EMH for customs. (I honestly hate doing EMH charting and normally my versions of EMH are really… Bad).
April 23, 2014 at 7:39 pm #418670CAT is definitely intended for way more than what I’m using it for here and anyone who charts needs to be using it. Even if you’re not interested in reductions, it still does a lot of other things that can greatly help you out.
April 26, 2014 at 7:51 pm #418908Thanks for doing this. There are still a lot of us with friends who require lower difficulties. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_biggrin.gif” />
