The topic title pretty much covers it. I’m trying to load up a batch of songs like I usually do, and they aren’t showing up. I’m using the same process that I’ve always used. Symptoms/information as follows:
Songs loaded onto my transfer USB stick with Party Buffalo.
When checking the songs on the USB through the Xbox they all say “Unknown Profile”.
I log into my normal offline profile to transfer the files to my Customs USB stick, move them over, and the new batch – and ONLY the new batch – now say that they are owned by that offline profile. Every other custom (900+ of them) has no owner listed.
The new batch of files just doesn’t load. I’m loading up RB3 while logged into the same offline profile that I used to move the files.
The console will not let me move files without being logged in to a profile.
I also tried just leaving the files on my transfer stick while firing up RB3 with the same result.
There was a system update between now and the last time I added new customs.
I can’t see anything that I’ve done differently from what I’ve done a hundred times before. I believe that the solution is to remove the profile ownership tag from the new batch of files, but I don’t see how to accomplish this. I also don’t see why the heck it’s happening now.
Is anyone else having a similar problem? Or am I just missing something simple?
December 21, 2014 at 7:30 pm #434978Have you tried Horizon?

It’s one of the 2 programs you really need to have to manage a USB stick for the Xbox along with Party Buffalo. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_wink.gif”>

I guess that I’ll have to look it up, then. I still don’t understand why this started happening.

December 24, 2014 at 5:54 pm #435159Roger that. And thanks for the advice!
December 27, 2014 at 8:51 pm #435324I’m still stumped. Horizon doesn’t seem to be able to do anything with the files, either. I’m sure that I’m just missing something. An additional frustration is my inability to even register the (Horizon) software. I don’t know if being able to log in would make a difference, but I can’t even get that done, and I can’t contact anyone there to clear up my registration issues!
December 28, 2014 at 1:45 am #435339Horizon doesn’t need to be registered, btw.
December 28, 2014 at 7:53 pm #435362Horizon doesn’t need to be registered, btw.I was more concerned with maybe trying to get some help through their forums, as I haven’t had any luck figuring things out on my own so far. The big issue is that I don’t really understand the problem, or how the available tools can be used to fix it. Frustration has set in!
January 1, 2015 at 2:44 am #435485Okay, I don’t really know how, but I finally got this fixed. Horizon never did anything for me. I just kept messing around with a bunch of con files and my transfer USB stick. Eventually I got to a point where the stick had two versions of one song on it – one that had no owner (what i was looking for), and one that said it was owned by the mysterious “unknown profile”. So I deleted everything on the stick (except for my target file): the other con files, a copy of my RB3 save file, plus some other crap that the Xbox must have put there without my knowledge. I used both the console and Party Buffalo to do the deleting. Then I navigated to where that un-owned con was in Party Buffalo, injected my 20+ song backlog of con files, and everything was golden. They were all listed as NOT being associated with any profile.
I only wish that I knew how I got to the point where I had an “un-owned” file on the drive. I probably copied it from my customs stick on the Xbox, but I honestly don’t remember. Anyway, I’m leaving this here so that I can save myself when this happens to me again.
January 1, 2015 at 3:19 am #435488Wanted to add my two cents. I’ve had the same problem twice where songs would suddenly stop copying despite Modio (a save manager like Horizon) and the Xbox device manager telling me the memory stick still had all its available space. I was doing nothing differently so I was at a loss to explain it. When I checked the memory stick using Windows Explorer I saw there were four hidden data files that were taking up the entire flash drive and just not being detected by the Xbox or any save manager. These data files build up over time regardless of whether or not I delete songs off the stick using the Xbox or Modio so I’ve had to re-format my memory stick to clear up all the space (clearing the cache on the stick in Xbox did nothing). I use a 1 gig flash drive, the last time this happened was incidentally around the same time you started this thread.
So if it happens again, could be the same deal.
January 1, 2015 at 3:58 pm #435507Weird. I wish that there were more file manipulation utilities on the Xbox. It would make things a lot easier! Anyway, I never reformatted anything – just made sure that nothing (nothing easily visible, anyway) was on the transfer stick except a “proven winner” CON file. Thanks for adding your data.
