This might be a non starter but thought I’d ask!
Being new to this, it’s been amazing to see so much time and effort put into these custom tracks, especially full band support. I’ve noticed though that some custom tracks when you preview or play them are so quiet, the volume is so low (some are the opposite and very loud!) A couple of examples ‘One night in Bangkok’ or ‘Say,say, say’ or ‘girls’ by Beastie Boys you can hardly hear the vocals or music over the crowd but then ‘Firestarter’ is the other way and so loud that it nearly blows my speakers!
Is there a way of adjusting volumes to the custom tracks to a set level so all of the tracks can have a similar amount of volume? Otherwise you have to keep changing the volume every couple of songs! Every custom track I’m sure has taken people hours of time to do which is amazing so it seems a shame to do all that work and not get the best out of them because of the volume.Any ideas? or is it a case of it is what it is?
April 11, 2020 at 11:30 am #510759You can LOWER the volume by editing the DTA file.
You can also generally lower the crowd volume in the game.
Unfortunately you cannot really increase the volume of a custom without replacing its audio file with a louder one. Although some people mentioned you might be able to increase the volume slightly in the DTA file, whenever I tried that I didn’t really notice a difference.
April 12, 2020 at 4:11 pm #510782Thanks for replying, I thought it was worth asking! How do you get to the DTA file to change it? C3 CON tools? If so what bit do I need to change please? Otherwise it sounds complicated so it might be best to leave alone! 😂

Each song has a DTA section with ‘vols’ where you can set a volume modifier for each track (or two for each stereo track). Keep in mind these are decibel values, so -3 means half volume, -6 means one-quarter volume and so on.
I guess that if you’re an Xbox user you might have to use the DTA editor in C3 CON Tools. I am a PS3 user so I typically have one single giant DTA file merged from all individual customs, so I just edit that file directly after converting customs to PS3.
April 12, 2020 at 6:49 pm #510785You’re a star thanks so much for answering 👍🏻 you are correct too! An Xbox 360 user, a newby to it all and love the work that people have put into these brilliant tracks. The volume was the only problem especially to the ones mentioned above and wondered if it could be ‘fixed’ using the C3 con tools I have seen for example
‘mute volume -96’
‘mute volume vocals -12’
Those are the only things I’ve seen mentioning volume so I’m guessing I need to play around with these settings?!
Thanks again for making it a bit clearer, I want to keep classics like ‘Firestarter’ but I want to keep my Bose speakers too! 😂👍🏻
