I am working on the drum track to a song that uses a cabasa throughout. What’s the best way to chart that? It sounds vaguely like a cymbal to me, or a muted snare. I am guessing yellow, but …

The best way is not to chart it. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif”> Unless it’s the only thing going on (in which case, it’s a Yc), shakers usually are not authored. If a drum set is playing, try to find the hi hat playing under the shaker. If it’s the only percussion instrument going on, then it’s perfectly fine to author it to Y cymbal.
