Good evening my children and welcome to this year’s Halloween event here at the Voodoo Festival in New Orleans, Louisiana!
Here ghouls and ghosts from around the world gather to pay tribute to the spookiest, scariest music brought to you by authors of Customs Creators Collective! We had some incredible performances yesterday and today will promise to be just as exciting!
First, our opening acts:
To open today’s concert we introduce to you a classic metal band from Birmingham, England and brought to you by Freewaymad. Please welcome the legendary Black Sabbath!
What an awesome start! Are you hoping for more? Don’t fear, Black Sabbath will be back…partly. Muahahahahaha
Next up is an amusing single from VreyRB2 that just might drive you crazy.
Hope you have retained your sanity from that last one because now MrPrezident has a song from The Greatest Band in the World.
From the Prez, “Set in a dystopic future where humanity has been ‘nuked to hell’ by Donald Trump Jr, The D must save what’s left of humanity from the likes of Nazis, the KKK, the Crackalackadingdong monster, a Gorgon, Amazonian cave women, Johnny Depp, and Elon Musk. Armed with only their wits, their music, and poignant arguments promoting racial equality, the earth’s last hope – rock’s last and greatest super team – will defeat evil for the third time, with a little help from their faithful two-headed doggy called Hope.”

Whew! That was quite a song! For our next opening act we have a band of misfits…oh wait, that’s exactly who they are! I’m gonna let author Septekka take it away with their novella:
“The Misfits are one of punk rock’s most famous and beloved classic bands – not quite as widely-known as, say, the Ramones, but pretty damn close. Hell, their logo is one of those types of things you see on numerous shirts that are worn by people who haven’t listened to them. The fact that they practically invented the horror punk subgenre, which blends morbid, B-movie-inspired lyrics and nostalgic 50s and 60s influences into the energetic and distorted style typical of punk, makes them a perfect fit for this Halloween date.
A bit of an oddity in their discography, Static Age was recorded all the way back in 1978, meaning it’s actually technically the band’s first album. However, the full recordings were shelved for almost 20 years due to the band not being able to find a label willing to release it, followed by half of the band quitting. Some of the tracks were slowly trickled out on singles, EPs, and compilations in the years to come, until the album was finally released in full as part of the band’s boxset in 1996, and then individually a year later.
Static Age is often said to contain some of the band’s best material – case in point, “Last Caress,” one of their most beloved songs among fans. Like many Misfits songs, it’s a snappy, aggressive, power-chord driven punk number. Its lyrics are comically fucked up and all delivered in catchy, sing-a-long melodies by Danzig’s powerful voice. Never before or after has singing about murdering babies and… other unspeakable acts… been such a joy!”
We’ve had quite an incredible night ladies and gentlemen, but it’s not over yet! Tonight our two main acts will send chills down your spine. They have instilled fear into the hearts of men for decades and will promise to do so again tonight. Will you survive?
The stage is dark. The audience is silent. Fog billows out of the stage. An ominous tone hums, quietly at first but grows louder. Then the lights fade in. You see a silhouette of a slab, almost like a monolith. Then as the lights brighten you realize it’s not a monolith at all but a table, angled towards you. On that table is a man in a straightjacket. Wait…that’s not just any man! That’s the legendary Alice Cooper!
Take it away, TheSheepQueen!
“There it is, the song that best emphasizes Halloween for me! Some might know it from the criminally underrated Dark Shadows by Tim Burton, but it’s mostly known as a staple of Alice Cooper shows, so much that one of the two Funko Pop! figurines he got was based on this performance of the song! The title references classic horror actor Dwight Frye, known for his villain roles in legendary black and white movies. The lengthy song alternates between quiet verses and loud chorus, and of course is most known for Alice Cooper’s mental breakdown mid-song where he screams “I GOTTA GET OUTTA HERE!”, truly a track that will send shivers down your spine.”
“In 2000, Alice Cooper took for two albums an interesting turn in his career and put out Brutal Planet and Dragontown in 2001. These two albums clearly lean more towards Industrial and Metal, with inspiration from Marilyn Manson (Quite ironic) and Rob Zombie (Double ironic). This track is the title track from the first album and is clearly way more “serious” than Cooper’s usual lyrics, mentioning child abuse, the Holocaust and Jesus getting hung on the cross. The album actually was praised for communicating biblical morals, which is triple ironic since Alice Cooper is often seen as a devilish guy by his haters.”
“In 1978, Alice Cooper was deeply struggling with alcoholism and went to a sanitarium to solve that. He came back with From The Inside, a concept album featuring lyrics from Bernie Taupin, yes, the Bernie Taupin. The result is a bit more “poppy” than his previous works but still counts as a major part of Alice Cooper’s style. This track could in fact sound like Disco to some, and features some fun piano that’s driving the whole song. This is the opening track and is about his regret of having gone too far, as far as having to go to rehab.”
“This 2009 single is in fact celebrating at the time of release its 9th birthday, so what better to celebrate Halloween than a song about Halloween, released on Halloween? Watch for these two spooky guitar solos and the fast pace of drums. This song is nothing else but a confirmation that Alice Cooper was, is and will always be the godfather of shock rock, renewing his seat among the legends of horror.”
Finally, this title track from Cooper’s latest album is a great challenge, especially on guitar and drums. The song features a “big” instrumental section with a drum roll and a long guitar solo. The lyrics could remind of his ballads, where he mixes love and dark themes, as heard on “Killed By Love” or “Dangerous Tonight”.
What an incredible performance! Despite his age Alice Cooper still knows how to put on one hell of a concert!
And now, the last performer of the night, the Prince of Darkness himself, the master of bat-infused snacks, Ozzy Osbourne! Tonight you will hear (almost) all of his famous album No More Tears, produced by Bansheeflyer!
As you metalheads out there are likely aware, “No More Tears” was written about the life of a serial killer. The opening track from the album follows the same theme with a creepy man known only by the name Mr. Tinkertrain who kidnaps children. As such this song is a bit discomforting so supervision is recommended. Oddly enough despite Ozzy’s career and history his work tends to rarely have mature content and this song is the only one from the release that will carry the SR rating.
This song was released as a promotional song in Britain and was nominated and won a Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance in 1994. This was one of the six songs co-written by the late Lemmy Kilmister from Motörhead (though only four made it to the final album). This song discusses living life as it is and not changing yourself for anyone.
And now the second song (well, third, the second is DLC and I will be haunted by the Ghost of HMX Past and Ghost of Lawyer’s Future if I make it) to be co-written by Lemmy features a power upbeat tempo and fun riffs. The “desire” is the rock and roll lifestyle, always pushing it to the limit.
Next is a haunting track of nightmares that is “S.I.N.” What does it stand for, exactly? Who knows! It consists of a fast beat with the usual string riffs and a lot of sixteenth notes!
Here is the last track on the album co-written by Lemmy regarding the life of rock and loving every minute of it. Noticing a pattern? This is the second-most successful single from the album (the other one involving ghosts and lawyers as mentioned above) and was the song that got me into Ozzy in the first place. Thanks, San Andreas!
Now we take things back a few notches with this slow song about love and loss. It’s a good break before you dive back into the daunting disco beats and crazy solos.
And now the most theme-fitting song from Ozzy tonight, “Zombie Stomp”! Yet another song about Ozzy’s eccentric lifestyle “Zombie Stomp” has a powerful bass line and fun solos.
And for the last song of the night we have “A.V.H.”, another cryptic acronym. Supposedly this stands for “Aston Villa Highway”, referring to the football club in Ozzy’s home town of Birmingham. The song has absolutely nothing to do with football in case you were wondering.
Feeling like something’s missing? Maybe those who have the 2002 reissue of the album? That void will be filled! Bonus material is on the way but like those back in 1991, you’ll have to wait for those too! (though not ten years I promise)
