A few days ago I stumbled upon an issue with the C3 CON Tools PS3 Converter…
When I use the functionality for encrypting a replacement MIDI file, the tool automatically renames the file, apparently trimming it of certain characters such as “-” (the minus sign).
Now this is a problem, because you CANNOT rename the MIDI file after encrypting it or the game will fail to load it. I do not know how encryption works, but this sounds like the name of the file is used by the encryption algorithm. I suppose that the PS3 Converter first trims the name, and then encrypts the file, otherwise the result would not load.
There are however many customs with the character “-” included in the name, and they work fine in PS3, so I don’t know why the PS3 Converter removes this character. So the problem is that if I ever want to modify one of these custom’s MIDI file, or replace it with a new version, I cannot do it.
I think a possible workaround would be to rename everything (folder, mogg, milo, png, as well as data inside songs.dta) to match the new name without “-” as forced by the reencryption.
You are about to leave Rhythm Gaming World and access the external songs DB. Alright, we had to made you aware of this, now you can visit the database!
