Samjjones knew this one was coming – it appeared on a WIP list he made. I asked, and he had no plans for it.
March 8, 2017 at 11:22 am #482421To the hints for this month.
The first was pretty obvious – Good, God, Y’all. What else could it be?

Ajfone23 did the drum chart for this song, and for the next, the Beltrami theme.
That hint was a little trickier, but you guys got it right:

The third hint was really tough. It refers to the legend about Mozart, Salieri, and the King, griping that the latest opera from young Mozart was good, but, hard to follow – it had “too many notes.”
A young man trying to impress beyond his abilities.
Too much spice.
Too um, yeah too many notes.
That is from the introduction to the Warmen song, Beyond Abilities:

I was inspired by ElectricSkyLab to tackle some Warmen songs – his recent release of Salieri Strikes Back was wonderful (but incomplete – it lacked keys, and he gave me permission to add keys to it):
Check out his thread for comments on this one. The newest version is now in the database, here:

I tackled three more Warmen songs, starting with the incredible Heart cover of Alone:

Then two from an earlier album:

That’s it for this month. I like them all, but War, Alone, and 3:10 to Yuma are great songs, and should be in everyone’s library. I still can’t believe that no one grabbed War before this.
March 8, 2017 at 2:23 pm #482424Thanks so much! I love War and Beyond Abilities. That’s the only Warmen song I’ve heard, but I like it so I’ll be sure to check the others out
March 8, 2017 at 2:32 pm #482425That’s the only Warmen song I’ve heard, but I like it so I’ll be sure to check the others out
Be sure to try Salieri Strikes Back, or the Beard conversion, Return of Salieri. Great songs, and customs.
March 8, 2017 at 5:40 pm #482428Thanks for these. Edwin Starr’s ‘War’ is a fantabulous choice. I’m not aware of Warmen’s work but I’m always game to check out unfamiliar material. Your efforts are most appreciated!
March 10, 2017 at 9:06 am #482508Man now I want to watch 3:10 to Yuma.
A similar track I would love to see in Rock Band is “Jake Lonergan” from the Cowboys & Aliens soundtrack. Awesome western score from an awesome composer. I would have that soundtrack playing in the background while I was playing Fallout: New Vegas. Fit surprisingly well.
March 12, 2017 at 4:25 pm #482619Finding a bunch of great stuff hidden in here!
Thanks for all the work! I’ll maybe eventually make it through everything. Appreciate everything with drums ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
(When I posted this I only made it through page 3)
March 15, 2017 at 8:36 am #482733Start from the end and go backwards! When I first arrived here, I was really lousy. I’ve gotten better. Also, all the recent stuff is full-band, and so will have drums for you.
March 15, 2017 at 3:10 pm #482743Just wanted to mention….
I gave the Warmen tracks a spin and was immediately and thoroughly wowed! Especially for ‘Into The Oblivion’. It’s almost sacrilege to mention I enjoyed ‘Alone’ as much as I enjoyed the version from Seattle’s own Ann and Nancy Wilson, but in light of the talent and musicianship of this band, I’m sure they would agree!Great stuff, thanks for the recommendation! ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_biggrin.gif” />
May 24, 2017 at 12:41 pm #485446First up, two minor updates:
Battle Without Honor is now full multitrack, thanks to Nerd42. There are also some changes to the charts, and a major rewrite of the bass chart.

Wingsoveramerica has added Pro Keys to Live and Let Die, with the new upload here:

One new custom for you this month – only one, but it is pretty spectacular.
Jethro Tull released this song in the early months of 1972, to rather mixed reviews. Two critics reviewed the piece for Rolling Stone. One of them called it “one of rock’s most sophisticated and ground-breaking products” but the other found it a bit boring, with “rather undifferentiated movements”, and gave it two stars out of five.
Rolling Stone was much kinder than the critics here, in the US. Many hated it, and Robert Christgau cleverly penned “the usual shit: rock (getting heavier), folk (getting feyer), classical (getting schlockier), flute (getting better because it has no choice).”
Now, 45 years later, most critics consider this a masterpiece – for instance, Joseph Blum wrote that it “paved the way for modern progressive rock … it represents not only a pinnacle achievement for Jethro Tull, but also a concrete example of just how adventurous and free artists used to be.”
This custom is a massive undertaking, done jointly with MrBurpler. We started on it two months ago (!).
Without further ado, we give you:
You can download Part I here:
http://customscreators.com/index.php?/page/index.html/_/thick-as-a-brick-part-i-r16743
and Part II at
http://customscreators.com/index.php?/page/index.html/_/thick-as-a-brick-part-ii-r16744
In the other downloads section, we have the two parts combined, into one single custom. The MIDI for that runs well over the supposed limit, but, it seems to work.
May 24, 2017 at 1:34 pm #485447So much for my WiP. Thanks for this. ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
Only two months? Impressive. I would have never finished it.
May 24, 2017 at 3:36 pm #485452Thank you so much for letting me work on this with you. It was such a blast, and my favorite Jethro Tull album to boot!
May 24, 2017 at 10:04 pm #485463Amazing. Simply Amazing.
May 25, 2017 at 12:53 am #485467You have been missed these past couple of months. Thanks for this awesome release. Can’t wait to play it.
May 25, 2017 at 1:22 am #485469Awesome full album release and thanks for the Pro Keys upgrade to Live and Let Die with Roger Moore passing away the other day.
