I know I am really late on this, but I would really like to buy some pro cymbals for my drums. I live in Canada and the cheapest ones on Amazon.ca are $50 for 2, and I’m not even sure if they are compatible with my drums. I got the drums that came in a bundle for the original RockBand on Wii. Will these work on the original drums for Wii? And is there a better place I could buy them?
August 23, 2015 at 8:50 pm #453392If you mean the RB1 drums, those do not take cymbals at all. You need RB2 or newer drums.
August 23, 2015 at 10:14 pm #453395Yeah I have RB1 drums, I guess that makes this even more expensive.
August 23, 2015 at 10:19 pm #453397Am I missing something or is Mad Catz not selling Pro Cymbals for their new RB4 drum kit? I assume the Mad Catz RB3 kit cymbals will work with the RB4 kit.
August 23, 2015 at 10:20 pm #453398They are going to sell new cymbals, but won’t be out by launch and as we know, not included in the band kit either. Yes, old cymbals work with new drums. New cymbals won’t work with old drums.
August 24, 2015 at 1:50 am #453412ugh, so many things missing at launch or we have no info on yet. but that is a discussion for another thread i suppose….
August 24, 2015 at 3:36 am #453422All they had to do is delay this game till next year and then online multiplayer, ION and E-kit support, among other aspects could of made launch. Funny how Amplitude gets delayed but not Rock Band 4 with amplitude being announced first. I guess Harmonix needs to have a game out this year to make financial numbers.
August 24, 2015 at 3:38 am #453423They need a game to compete with Guitar Hero.
August 24, 2015 at 4:09 pm #453468I’m only interested in Pro Drums for RB3, I’m not gonna get RB4.
August 25, 2015 at 4:45 pm #453559They need a game to compete with Guitar Hero.I don’t know how it is in the rest of Europe but here in the Netherlands the Guitar Hero name has a ton more brand recognition with people than Rock Band ever had.
It might have something to do with the fact that Guitar Hero was first and was also the first one to (officially) bring a full band experience to this side of the Atlantic. They had that market to themselves for more than a year.
The South Park episode probably helped as wel.
But when I mention Rock Band to people, most of the time I have to compare it to Guitar Hero for them to get it.
On the used instruments market the GH ones seem to outnumber the RB ones at about seven or eight to one.
Back on topic, has it been confirmed that RB 4 cymbals aren’t backwards compatible?
I get that the new instruments themselves aren’t, but it would be nice to have some less loud cymbals for the regular kit untill Hell freezes over and Ions are back in ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
August 25, 2015 at 4:48 pm #453560Yep the Madcatz team has said it more than once. Old cymbals work on new drums, new cymbals don’t work on old drums.
September 21, 2015 at 2:05 am #455481So I bit the bullet and spent 120 dollars on 3 Mad Catz RB3 cymbals to use on the RB4 stock kit. Things people will do to play pro drums at launch. I just can’t believe Mad Catz didn’t have the RB4 cymbals ready for launch.
September 21, 2015 at 2:11 am #455482They said recently that yes, they would be. And yes, I realize we’re like 2 weeks from launch. $120 for one set of 3 cymbals though?! Or 3 sets of 3 cymbals? In which case, what do you need so many cymbals for?
EDIT: Found this:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Rock-Band-3-Pro … 338c0516a3
So if by next week’s end there’s still no word on the RB4 cymbals I’ll get one of those…so this begs the question…why 9 cymbals?
September 21, 2015 at 3:33 am #455488I only ordered 3 cymbals and they are brand new. Thats a good price for the Mad Catz cymbals. I don’t know why that listing didn’t pop up when I searched for them. I’m going to try to cancel my current order.
