Hey guys,

 

Here’s a two-pack of a one-hit wonder. Gary Numan seems to follow Issac Asimov’s pleasure in telling stories about androids and computers but out of all this early 80s work “Cars” ended up being his number one hit. While charting this song I realized how boring it is from a musical perspective. It’s two whole verses of short lyrical content and rest is just the intro and the verse sections repeated with an added synth harmony at the end. But it’s still fun and catchy.

 

The second song “Love Hurt Bleed” is from Numan’s latest work. It’s quite a bit darker and will make you go “What? This is the same guy who did ‘Cars'”? Apparently Numan and Trent Reznor are good friends and inspire each other’s works often so if you like Nine Inch Nails, you’ll probably enjoy this. If you don’t like Nine Inch Nails you should give it a try anyway. You never know if you’ll like it or not.

Thanks for Cars. Loved it since I was 10. You’re right that it’s a bit musically spare, though.
