I would say it’s a bit unique for a Touhou track to feature a drum solo, but when I think back it’s not actually that rare. For a theme made for an Extra Stage boss who is basically an animated taiko drum, throwing in a 40 second section isolating most tracks so you can hear just the eerie percussion is a really cool touch though by ZUN.

A wave of nostalgia hit me as I listened to this song and I had to go make a custom for it. Hey, does anyone remember this old custom for this song, back when Rock Band customs were played using the Audition Mode and shared mostly through YouTube videos?

Gerudo Valley’s an excellent choice for charting, surprised I haven’t seen more Zelda music charted tbh.

 

Some feedback on the drums chart: I’m pretty sure the repeating pattern is YRRY RRYR YRRR YRRR instead of just having YRRY RRYR on loop. It’s hard to tell with dynamic percussion though.

It’s the same eight hits over and over, that much I’m sure of. I think the pattern is actually more like YRRY YRYR, but playing that doesn’t feel like it matches the rhythm of the song as well. Hmmm.
