Outside of Rockband and Guitar Hero, what other music based games do/have you guys/girls play/played?
I’m a fan of Re-Rave, In The Groove, DDR, Pop N’ Music, Drum Mania, Technica, Neon FM.
Waiting, my local arcade is gonna be getting Sound Voltex in soon, can’t wait to give that a go.
Although it’s nowhere near as complicated as creating customs for Rockband, I’ve had my hand at making songs for In The Groove, I have around 10 songs under my belt as far as that goes.
So what about you guys?
February 20, 2015 at 5:56 pm #438910I mostly play Audiosurf and Beat Hazard, really. There’s something about being able to choose your own music to play to, and both games for me have had great results in auto-generated tracks (playing metal on both games is actually really fun, especially the more “extreme” varieties).
IDK if you’d call it a “music” game, since it’s really more like a runner with rhythm elements, but I’ve been playing BIT.Trip Presents: Runner 2 a lot recently. It’s really hard, and rather resource-extensive on my computer, but it’s as addicting as crack to me.
February 20, 2015 at 6:18 pm #438912Been a while but used to play a lot of Beat Hazard. Should pick it up again sometime, bought the DLC and stuff before I quit. There is also Phase Shift of course
February 20, 2015 at 6:20 pm #438913I love Rocksmith, wish rock band had this kind of real guitar support.
February 20, 2015 at 6:56 pm #438918Rocksmith, Bandfuse, a little bit of Phase Shift.
February 20, 2015 at 7:19 pm #438922Pretty much just Audiosurf for me
February 20, 2015 at 7:28 pm #438925I’ve only played it a few times, but Re-Rave is really addicting. I love it.
EDIT: and Rhythm Heaven Fever on Wii is really great as well.
February 20, 2015 at 8:20 pm #438938Hatsune Miku Project Diva, Taiko no Tatsujin, and Rhythm Heaven
The Project Diva series is my favorite of the 3 which I’ve played since the first one came out on the PSP
February 20, 2015 at 8:53 pm #438940Elite Beat Agents on Nintendo DS. Well, now there’s a PC one called osu!.
A good oldie but goodie was Bust-A-Groove/Bust-A-Move on PlayStation, but there’s a PC MMO like that called Audition.
February 20, 2015 at 10:41 pm #438958I have Rocksmith, but I always seem to hit a wall, quit it for a couple months, then pick it up again. I think I’m just re-learning the same skills.
February 21, 2015 at 3:14 am #438982I played DDR, when ITG2 was released here I began to play more seriously, made some tournament in Quebec (people from europe/USA came!).
Also played Guitar Freaks, Drummania, Pump it Up, Stepmania (which technically is ITG, or more exactly: Stepmania with a skin)
Right now though, I play Phase Shift and Rocksmith 2014. (I don’t consider RS to be a game though)
February 23, 2015 at 8:20 am #439103Rocksmith user here. Heavily invested in the game as well as instruments, first started out with the Rock Band Squier Strat. Being a left handed user it sucked but I loved Rock Band so much that I bought it anyway to force myself to learn righty. Couldnt take it anymore and spent some real cash on a left handed Fender. What a difference, it even makes the Fender Squier for Rock Band feel cheap.
February 26, 2015 at 11:43 pm #439357Hatsune Miku Project DivaI thought that I was the only that plays this game in this forum
February 27, 2015 at 4:19 am #439367Hatsune Miku Project Diva F (Ps Vita)

February 27, 2015 at 2:22 pm #439390o.o Thank you for showing me Melody’s Escape. I think I’m gonna pick that up.
All the love for OSU here. I play it on an $80 windows tablet, plays perfectly, and is just the way it should be played.
I never worked well for me on phones.
