Anyone ever had an issue like this with a wired guitar?

I got an X-Plorer (guitar hero aerosmith bundle for PC, but it’s the same as the 360 guitar), but the guitar is acting weird on my 360. It works fine for about a minute and then the 360 just says “please reconnect controller”. The weird thing is the light on the xbox button on the guitar is still on, but the buttons don’t do anything.
Could some wires be crossed or something? I have no idea what’s going on.
