    I was gonna make a big post about the financial number analysis, breaking it down by contributors and average donations, but it got too confusing. So here’s my question:

    At close to $840K and almost 14,000 backers, at $60 per contributor, do the numbers make sense? Does the scenario of 14,000 individuals shelling out ~$60 for a PS3 project in 18 days seem realistic?

    inb4 “you didn’t count the big donors.” I did. Taking the $200 and up contributors out of the equation, the average lowers to ~$50.

      Yes, it’s entirely realistic.

        If I had to guess I’d say that HMX insiders jumped in after it was looking as if it would fall short. A half million discount on a project is too big to just let slip away.

          Here’s a better way to look at it, perhaps.

          $ 844,000 (Total Pledge Amount)

          Minimum Pledge Amounts:
          - 30,000 (Benefactor * 3)
          - 8,000 (Harmonix Throws You a Party * 1)
          - 37,500 (Your Song in the Game * 5)
          - 3,501 (Dinner with Tim Schafer * 1)
          - 10,500 (Dinner with Our Founders * 3)
          - 0 (Visit to Harmonix * 0)
          - 24,500 (Song Senate * 49)
          - 18,250 (VIP PAX East Launch Party * 73)
          - 5,000 (VIP Package * 20)
          - 76,800 (Collector's Edition * 384)
          - 68,375 (T-Shirt Tier * 547)
          - 67,800 (PS2 Case Tier * 678)
          - 36,890 (Print Tier * 527)
          - 67,080 (Early Access * 1677)
          - 35,000 (DLC Bonus Tier * 1000)
          - 151,880 (Get the Game * 7594)
          - 15,000 (Early Backer * 1000)
          - 2,940 (Thanks * 294)

          $ 184,984 not covered by minimum pledge amounts.

          International shipping for some of the tiers can account for up to the following amounts (assuming all backers were international)

          $ 5,270 (Print Tier)
          $ 6,780 (PS2 Tier)
          $ 5,760 (Vinyl Tier)

          This means that between $167,174 and $184,984 were covered by pledge 'overages', spread out across around 14,000 backers, which is only about $13 per person, which is still a fairly steep average overpayment. Even if you assume only one in three people over-pledged that's still an extra $40 or so for that person... but a number of people /did/ say they pledged $60-$100 for the $40 tier, and who knows what the top tier pledges might have been?

          F*kken financial breakdown, batman.

          It brought a tear to my eye.

          Now that HMX succeeded with the Amplitude kickstarter, maybe we’ll see one for RB: World Tour – Kickstarterâ„¢ Edition?

            I would take a loan out to support such a thing.

              If you’ll recall, early on in this one it was listed as the $4m stretch goal.

              If they pushed for a new one and had a PC port, it might be doable — though that’s a lot of backers if that $4m is just for the software (you’d be looking at like 70k backers at $60) and not for hardware (a $250 bundle option would only require 16k backers).
