Just popping in to say thanks again so much for all of the hard work you’ve done, AJFOne23. It’s awesome and much appreciated!

Thanks. Though none of it would be possible without the hard work of my contributors

Of course. . I don’t know where my head is at that I neglected to mention them as well. I came into your thread with that intent! No matter, I’ll thank them now along with you. Massive thanks to both AJF and all contributors. You guys rock.

LATEST UPDATE 2/1 – AMOUR MONTH DAY #1 Soundtrack Love

          zEBBJX1.jpg

          VOCALS: EchoOfMystery

          STANDARD KEYS: Bansheeflyer

French duo Air’s “Playground Love,” features Gordon Tracks (the pseudonym of Phoenix singer Thomas Mars) guesting on vocals and drums. It combines the dark ambience of the later songs with a pop sensibility and the result is a song that, if it was played on the radio, would be one of the greatest pop songs of recent memory. It’s more or less smooth jazz with string synths to compliment it. The gentle loungy xylophone and saxophone make this the best chill-out song with a pop structure.

          VOCALS: EchoOfMystery

          GUITAR: Whizzer

          5 LANE KEYS: EmotionalFlight

This song was co-written by Chris Cornell and his Euphoria Mourning album collaborators Alain Johannes and Natasha Shneider. It didn’t make that album but 5 years later it appeared on the soundtrack for Spiderman 2 performed by Jimmy Gnecco with Brian May of Queen on guitar You cannot ask for a more hypnotic track that sucks you in. The riffs in this song are so a-la the best of queen. While Jimmy Gnecco is no Chris Cornell he has a raw emotion and vocal prowess that brings the song home with a bang.

Playground Love is a great choice, sir. And I had no idea that the vocalist was from Phoenix either so thanks for the info.

Nice first launch for Amour Month! Not familiar with the first number, although I’m pretty confident I’ll find it appealing!

I do recall “Someone To Die For” but just couldn’t place where I’d heard it, until now. Love the sound of this. Great picks, Thanks!

LATEST UPDATE 2/2 – AMOUR MONTH DAY #2 Carole King – Where You Lead

GUEST WRITE UP: Funk Meister Freud.
Written by singer/songwriter extraordinaire, Carol King in collaboration with lyricist Toni Stern, “Where You Lead” is the eighth track from King’s legendary 1971 album “Tapestry”. The LP held the #1 spot on Billboard’s Top 200 Albums for 15 consecutive weeks. Baby boomers will know this song as one of the hit tracks from that iconic album and most younger listeners will likely recognize the tune as the theme song for the television series “Gilmore Girls”. The song projects a bouncy, feel good piece of ‘happy’ that starts off with a very short but effective guitar and electric piano intro which in turn establishes and maintains the integrity of this great composition’s spirit, largely in part due to the talents of renowned session musician Danny ‘Kootch’ Kortchmar along with the very capable and talented virtuoso drum work of Russ Kunkell. With session musicians of this caliber, it’s no wonder “Tapestry has long been regarded as Carol King’s masterpiece album. Plastic guitar players will love mashing buttons on this one. It ain’t speed metal or ‘thrash and shred’ by any stretch of the imagination but as far as older songs go, it is rather fun and satisfying for the genre.

Hmmm…didn’t recognize song from the title. Listened to it on YouTube in the hopes of an “Ohhhh…that song” moment.

                      Didn’t happen. Ah well.

To each his own. But the album this song comes from is a stone cold classic of the singer songwriter genre.

Honestly, I’d never seen an episode either (we don’t really watch much tv) and it did come as a surprise that there was a re-record for that show. I’m very happy that the album track was the one used!

Anything from ‘Tapestry’ will always be good by me! Thank you AJFOne23 and crew for getting this one out.
