October 16, 2017 at 9:44 am #491569LATEST UPDATE 10/16 METAL MONTH DAY #16 Papa Roach & Pestilence
GUITAR: 2dhumanity
BASS/VOCALS: EchoOfMystery“Land of Tears”, where a fast technical riff gives way to a breakdown using chords that seem uncommon for death metal, leading into a brilliant melodic solo almost reminiscent of Iron Maiden before falling back into the thrashy main riff again over a demented jazz lead.GUITAR/BASS: Mr. Echo
BASS/VOCALS: RealCheese‘Blood Brothers” appeared in the 2000 video game Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2. This one has like two overdubbed guitar parts…and a bassline that’s higher up playing the main riff for an intro before breaking it wide open. This is a really simple song, but makes a very good, ominous point that “It’s in our nature to destroy ourselves”.October 17, 2017 at 12:10 am #491590I’m late to the party, but, Megadeth – Killing Is My Business…
Kick Ass, Thanks to all involved.

I would love to get SFSGSW and CTE full band but we’ll see.
October 17, 2017 at 7:17 am #491599LATEST UPDATE 10/17 METAL MONTH DAY #17 Cynic – Veil of Maya
GUITAR: Angevil
BASS/VOCALS: EchoOfMysteryDRUMS: MrBurpler“Veil of Maya” is such a beautiful track that blends a flurry of organized chaos at one instant before shifting suddenly to a lush and spacey jazz sequence where the guitar work seems ever changing and soothing, along the bass that has a transcendental effect and plays such an important role with the excellent drumming which follows the guitar and bass extremely well and is quite a remarkable display of blending two different styles of drumming at once.October 18, 2017 at 9:38 am #491644LATEST UPDATE 10/18 METAL MONTH DAY #18 Blind Guardian & Old Man’s Child
GUITAR: Freewaymad
“Mr. Sandman”, a song with an identity crisis. Starts off as a tame but mostly faithful version of the original by the Chordettes but then halfway through it the guitars go heavy and we all mosh a one.GUITAR: Sygenysis
BASS/VOCALS: EchoOfMysteryDRUMS: MrBurpler“Black Seeds On Virgin Soil” – After a melodic intro, a surging, whiplash onslaught made up of a hurricane of guitar riffs and extremely busy double bass work bursts onto the scene.October 18, 2017 at 4:58 pm #491655Wow! Your Halloween Metal Month been kickin’ it!
High fives from me and a homie! (He really digs Mr. Sandman)

October 19, 2017 at 10:01 am #491693LATEST UPDATE 10/19 METAL MONTH DAY #19 Machine Head – Wolves
GUITAR: Puppetz
BASS/VOCALS: EchoOfMysteryDRUMS: Oddbrother“Wolves,” takes the cake for being “The Blackening”‘s biggest highlight. This song is over nine-minutes of sheer awesomeness! Most of it is super fast and heavy (with an absolutely blistering thrash guitar lead, deft, thumping drums, and four wild, careening solos); but somehow, the song also always manages to be super catchy, and it includes a very memorable and powerful chorus (“Unleash the wolves!”).October 20, 2017 at 10:24 am #491729LATEST UPDATE 10/20 METAL MONTH DAY #20 Van Halen & At the Gates
GUITAR: Heretodl
BASS/VOCALS: EchoOfMysteryIn ‘Cold’, At the Gates has crafted a timeless Metal classic that will surely stand the test of time. The crushing intro which leads to the lurching mid-tempo riff is the stuff made for headbanging. The off-kilter bridge riff and the serene acoustic part, leading back to the bridge with an overlaying short, but sweet lead is excellent. And the chorus is damn infectious. A must hear for any Metal fans.GUITAR: sean2490
BASS/VOCALS: EchoOfMysteryThis obscure gem from the ‘1984’ album sounds like Rush snuck into 5150 and slipped a track into the mix, at least until Roth starts singing about the titular subject. Eddie’s having fun with his harmonics here, and the song’s prog edge is awe inspiring. -
