You’e welcome. I’ve been dreaming of this one since new years 2015. Glad it’s finally done. Only 4 Chicago songs to go.
March 20, 2017 at 9:28 am #482948LATEST UPDATE 3/19 Mastodon Monday – Stargasm
GUITAR/BASS: spiralshadow123
VOCALS: Onyxite
The tri-chord lead intro returns and although comparatively riff free, here we are once again remained of Mastodon’s innate ability to craft music that creates the impression of being spun to the edges of some sort of hallucinatory, astral spectrograph. According to Brann Dailor, Stargasm is about having sex in space, or the feeling of what that might be like, and after a super slow-mo beginning the song explodes in a warp-speed orgasm of raging guitars that are juxtaposed with Alan Parsons-like vocal treatments amid sci-fi sonic treatments. In a super-cosmic bridge, Sanders sings, “And then we shift into overdrive/ but you’re not here/ and your legs and the stars collide/ you’re on fire.” With that, the band takes off into another dimension of metal splendor.March 22, 2017 at 12:16 am #483038UPDATE: 3/20

March 22, 2017 at 11:04 am #483053LATEST UPDATE 3/22 Stevie Wonder – Bird of Beauty
Welcome to Wonder Wednesday where you’ll see a new Stevie Wonder song for the next few months. Enjoy the wonder of Stevie. Wonderful write ups are courtesy of Funk Meister Freud.
5 LANE KEYS: MrBurpler
Mid summer 1974, The U.S. was still involved in a largely unpopular conflict in Vietnam, Richard ‘Tricky Dick’ Nixon understands that his back is up against the wall and his presidency is coming to an end due to actions unbecoming ‘The President of The United States of America’ and leader of our ‘Virtuous Freeworld’……and things have gotten so topsy turvy crazy that even the general public is shocked to read newspaper headlines declaring Patricia Hearst, the granddaughter of William Randolph Hearst and heiress to the Hearst media empire, had now joined the political cause of her abductors, a left wing terrorist group calling themselves ‘The Symbionese Liberation Army’ who were responsible for her kidnapping merely 5 months prior. Tumultuous happenings for sure!Stevie Wonder breaks on the scene with “Fullfillingness’ First Finale”, the second of three consecutive albums to win the prestigious Grammy Award for ‘Best Album of the Year’, three years in a row! “FFF” spawned a few more commercially successful tunes for Stevie including such funky, danceable hits as “You Haven’t Done Nothing” and “Boogie on Reggae Woman”.Despite all the turmoil and strife of the times, “Bird of Beauty” comes to the rescue, inspired and influenced by the likes of Sergio Mendes and Brasil ’66 (with Sergio even throwing in a few Portuguese lyrical lines to lend authenticity to the number). Stevie grooves on a Samba/Brazilian Jazz energy which soothingly takes the mind’s eye to a much more pleasant and relaxing place. Tastefully arranged and all instruments played by the man himself with the exception of the cuica, (a percussive instrument indigenous to Brazil, heard at the beginning of this song and played by Bobbye Hall), Stevie paints a gorgeous picture of pure and unadulterated escapism. Backed by the very capable vocal abilities of Deniece Williams, Lani Groves and Shirley Brewer, Mr. Wonder sings the virtues of allowing your being to just let go and chill on a natural level. There’s no need for artificial or chemical “vehicles” (red, white or yellow pills as stated in the lyrics) to get there. This work is a great, engaging, feel good composition which gets you to unwind and take a vacation from the proverbial rat race of everyday life and like Stevie says “ride that bird of beauty in the sky”. I don’t know about you guys but for me, that involves grilling some fresh fish on the barbie…whipping up a little mango salsa and maybe have some tasty ripe bananas for dessert (oh, don’t forget the mojitos!) while having a few friends over for another evening of RB3 with a song like this in the setlist…Have fun!March 23, 2017 at 6:55 pm #483112Fire. Every Wednesday is a Wonder education. A Wonducation, if you will. Thank you, sir.
March 24, 2017 at 10:13 pm #483167LATEST UPDATE 3/24 Frank Zappa – The Meek Shall Inherit Nothing
GUITAR/BASS: nsw1-6
“The Meek Shall Inherit Nothing” marks the beginning of the ’80s as far as Frank Zappa’s oeuvre is concerned. This song represents his first focused attack on organized religion, which in return will become the central theme of his lyrics throughout the 1980s. First Zappa turns the Biblical title into mockery: “Well, I heard that some sheik/Has bought New Jersey last week/’N you suckers ain’t gettin’ nothin’.” Afterwards, he addresses the question of the Church feeding on the money of believers: “Those Jesus Freaks/The shit they believe/Has got their minds all shut/An’ they don’t even care/When the church takes a cut.” Since “The meek shall inherit nothing” (and nobody else for that matter), “do what you wanna,” laugh at Billy Graham (a famous American televangelist), “just don’t mess up/Your neighbor’s thrill.”March 25, 2017 at 8:33 am #483183LATEST UPDATE 3/25 Chicago EPICS WEEK #3 – The Approaching Storm
GUITAR: bsbloom
5 LANE KEYS: Bansheeflyer
Chicago Chronicles Epic Week 3 is back with “The Approaching Storm”. It’s among the most involved, challenging, and definitive statements of jazz-rock fusion. As pop music morphed into the mindless decadence that was the mid-70’s, Chicago abandoned its ambitiously arranged multifaceted epics, concentrating on more concise song-crafting. “The Approaching Storm” has a jazzy hook and features great instrumental solos especially Walt Parazaider on sax.March 25, 2017 at 1:24 pm #483185I just played Poem 58 on guitar and to me hands down has the best and most fun guitar chart out of all your Chicago releases. Thank you.

I wasn’t going to mention the common factor of showcasing my customs and I’ll just chalk it up to coincidence

I’m confident it was The Beatles customs on my channel that gave me the most strikes. I wonder what artist got DethCamp4Cutie’s channel?
