LATEST UPDATE 11/5 – Frank Zappa – Black Napkins!

    Video Preview

    GUITAR: nsw1-6

Black Napkins” is a guitar-driven instrumental ballad that, starting in October 1975, popped up regularly in Frank Zappa’s live shows. Its slow, melancholic theme establishes a rare emotional mood (another example is “Watermelon in Easter Hay”) and leaves a lot of room for guitar soloing.

Thank you sir. 2 years into this project and I can’t believe I’m this close to the end. What a long strange trip it’s been <img decoding=” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />

In order to help us all in america and those of you around the world who’ve had to suffer through this dreadful election cycle I’ve prepared an election day 3 pack for this tuesday November 8th. Each song will represent the many of the feelings we’ve all had about our governments, are societies and the possible future no matter the outcome. Here are some hints for you in the meantime:

Song 1: This song features a lead singer who recently came under fire for being racist but based on the lyrics it’s hard to believe that could be the case.

Song 2: The next song was inspired by a peaceful protest in the late 90’s that was very brutally cracked down on by the police.

Song 3: This song was written before the band even had a name but wouldn’t be released until their 3rd album.

LATEST UPDATE 11/8 – Election Day 3 pack! Pantera, Pearl Jam, Megadeth

Each song in this pack ties into the narrative of this god awful election year whether is be racial problems in America, protesting injustice, or the rebirth of the cold war and possible nuclear wars if those politicians we all know and hate can’t get their shit together. Either way I hope you enjoy these 3 bad ass songs and may the world be a better place no matter the outcome.

    GUITAR: Froogs

A steel-plated rip-snorter by anyone else’s standards, No Good has a killer chorus, several face-flaying riffs and levels of muscular momentum that still take the breath away, 24 years later. One of the more subtly melodic tracks on VDOP.

    GUITAR: Mb1nightmare

Pearl Jam is arguably at their best when their songs are born out of anger. There’s no mincing of words with a title like “Grievance”, another hard rocker from Binaural. You can hear the band’s growing frustration towards their homeland government, specifically the “W.” Bush administration as Vedder gnashes his teeth and spits out spiteful, bordering-on-unpatriotic lyrics such as “pledge your grievance to the flag.” Matt Cameron’s subdued drumming on this song kicks our asses, too.

“Set the World Afire” was the first song Mustaine wrote after being fired from Metallica. Not only did he pen the lyrics on the back of a political pamphlet from California Senator Alan Cranston, he was inspired to name the band Megadeth after reading a term in Cranston’s pamphlet. “It said, ‘The arsenal of Megadeath can’t be rid,’ Mustaine told Louder Than Hell: The Definitive Oral History of Metal. “ I thought, ‘What a fantastic song title.’ That song later became ‘Set the World Afire.’

For some reason I’ve had this running through my head all morning.

Updated Pearl Grievance with some fixes: Added missing drum notes, corrected a lyric and removed and erroneous solo marker for guitar. Sorry but I’ve been sick.

I absolutely love these choices as political statements. Well done, AJFOne! Very well done. Thank You!

LOL! Somehow I can’t shake that queasy feeling at the back of my neck.

I was just saying to a few other members how the chorus for Pink Floyd’s ‘The Wall’ might be an ‘appropriate’ (scary,on so many levels) replacement for our National Anthem under a Trump Administration.
