When setting the download link for Wii and Ps3 customs, do you want to have them download the folders that Con Tools creates from the Ps3/Wii converter? Or is it harder than that?
January 21, 2018 at 5:25 pm #494561As resident Wii advocate, I actually prefer CONs. That way, I can use MiloMod to get the proper venue data and I can trim the audio preview to the length I prefer. So if you’re making a Wii-specific version of something with, say, lower quality multi-tracks, I think packing it as a CON is fine.

So you use the Xbox 360 link when downloading customs for your Wii most of the time?

Yes. I only download Wii-specific versions if there’s a reason to. That reason is typically because full multi-tracks customs often make the Wii stutter, so the Wii needs a special version with single-tracked audio or lower quality multi-tracks.

I see. Is it rare for a high quality single track audio file to make the Wii stutter?

I’ve never had a single-tracked song make the Wii stutter. I don’t think it’s possible for single-tracked audio to stutter (and I’m not going to tempt fate by setting Magma’s audio quality to 10). So don’t worry about that! I just uploaded my first custom yesterday and didn’t even bother making a Wii-specific version, even though that’s the only system I have. There was no point. But thank you for taking us into consideration! #WiiMatter

Of course, it’s no problem! ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />
Thank you for helping me out!
January 21, 2018 at 6:56 pm #494567From my experience, anything that has more than 12 mono tracks (real tracks, not emptied tracks that comes with Magma) will for sure make the wii stutter, and below that it actually depends on wii/method (emunand vs sd card).
I think (not even sure if it works for all wiis/methods but it works for me) a general good rule for wii is having only a single stereo stem for each individual instruments, that means no drums with 3 stems for wii, unless the song is missing 2 or more instruments.

Interesting. Thank you for the info!
January 21, 2018 at 7:04 pm #494569Also, if you have a decent PC you can consider about using Dolphin to test wii versions that you think can be problematic.
I’m also a PS3 user. While there is random problems with PS3 conversions (rare, but they happen) you shouldn’t do anything special about these until someone tested on PS3 and said there was a problem. Usually (strangely enough) just repacking with Magma does the job, but it could be something else like the edat encryption type.

That sounds good, I might try it though my PC isn’t well-equipped for gaming. Does it have graphics options ? Like for slower computers?
January 21, 2018 at 7:58 pm #494571Wii emulation needs a very good CPU and a decent graphics card. You don’t need the bomb GPU but you need a good CPU.
The only way to know for sure if it works fine is using the emulator and trying it out, and yes it has all sorts of graphics options, but the lower options are wii native resolutions, you can’t go lower than that (480p).

Okay, thanks for your help, but my PC probably can’t handle it xD
January 23, 2018 at 10:55 am #494631Once we have the PS3 or Wii customs, can we convert them back to CONs? I have a huge library of converted songs for PS3 and want to convert them back, but I can’t find an option. I could re-download them all again but I’m hoping for a quicker way.
Thank you
January 23, 2018 at 6:56 pm #494641In theory this is possible to do manually, but it would be way too much of a pain. There is no tools to do this automated like the current conversion process from xbox. It would take you less time to look up the link and download the CON file.
