(NOOOOO I TYPO’D THEIR NAME IN THE TITLE)
Hey all, here’s an early version of my first custom: Mad at You by 3oh!3. I found the stems and figured this would be a fun place to start.
DL Link: https://www.mediafire.com/?94fzicik7iiqhzl
Notes:
- Vocals aren’t finished. They’re barely started.
- Synth and some bass parts (There are THREE bass parts!) are charted to guitar. Wanted to chart this track similar to HMX’s method of charting in RB4.
- Guitar, bass, and drums are charted.
- No reductions yet.
- Drum fills are off at points.
- This will show up as “[TEST] Mad at You” in game.
Any feedback would be appreciated! Thanks!
Also, I’m having a problem while testing. I did my first version w/o vocals just to test the instruments, and now whenever I try testing it, it still says NO PART for vox and doesn’t display the updated song info. How do I fix that?
May 25, 2016 at 3:46 am #469291After playing expert drums on this song, I find that many of the notes you charted are not in sync with the song audio.
For better feedback, please provide your REAPER project file.
For vocals, there are a few things that should change:
- When authoring single-syllable words in multiple pitches, put one word in the first note and a + sign on any notes that follow.
- All notes that are charted must have space in-between them.
For a better understanding of vocals authoring, refer to the docs.

Thanks for the feedback on vocals. I haven’t been able to test them since the game still says no part when I try testing them, but it’s helpful. I’ve been referring to the docs and a couple videos but for some reason I’m never able to find the right answers to some of my questions. That helps a lot.
Here’s an early version of the chart (the drums should be mostly the same) until I get the current version uploaded: https://drive.google.com/open?id=0B8Ajdh54aWsNVDZfb0RtaTBndzA
EDIT: Newest version of reaper file w/ stems here: http://www.mediafire.com/download/75xfx0opq8siahn/MadAtYou.zip
One reason the drums may be out of sync is because I’m a dummy and I didn’t export the stems from Reaper and just imported the stems from the source into Magma. I might do a quick re-export and see how that helps.
Also, I feel like having the stems is a blessing and a curse. For the drums, I charted a few hits that are barely audible in the final mix and I don’t know how well that works.

That’s definitely the issue. Thank you!
