I’m doing a song and I only have the bass part done so far. I want to play test it so I’m trying to build the song. The MIDI tester is great and helped me fix a lot of errors I had except for one…
ERROR: MIDI Compiler: (PART BASS): MIDI track name event must appear at 1:1:000; found track name ‘PART BASS’ at 2:4:000
I looked all over the forum and the only stuff I found said to make sure the track started at the beginning, and trust me I’ve checked a thousand times. I haven’t edited the template at all, I even started fresh and redid the whole tempo map again! I’m using v4.22 for REAPER as well, the recommended version among C3. I’m wondering if it’s a setting in REAPER somewhere that when it exports to midi, it cuts out any empty space leading up to the first note. I could be very wrong, I’m just starting out and don’t know very much yet.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Not too complicated. It says the Track Name event “PART BASS” is located at 2.4.00 in the Bass track. Move it all the way back to 1.1.0 and you’re done!

Yeah that’s what I was trying to do and it wouldn’t recognize that the bass track was at 1:1:0 already. I just ended up starting over and was extra careful not to mess with the template. It’s working now.
