The song is: Bad Religion – Better Off Dead

      It displays as: Bad Religiom

I fixed this in the DTA which was incorrect as expected, but it still shows the wrong artist while in-game.

Do I have to delete song cache or something? Is that normal when renaming a track?

      Thanks in advance!

the answer for just about everything is delete song cache! so yes

The answer for any metadata change is to clear the song cache. The song cache is basically a collection of all the DTA entries, so any changes will require to rebuild it. Things that don’t require cache rebuild are audio, chart and album art fixes, basically any other file change that is not the DTA file.

can anyone help with naming tracks by motley crue, bjork and blue oyster cult? i still can’t get them to work in game with proper accent spelling when packed. single files work but packing creates asterisks where the ö is.

i’ve altered the dta files afterwards and still nothing and i’ve packed using utf8 and deleted my cache every change…

I was just about to ask that with Blue Oyster…I renamed all my tracks for them the same (with the double dotted O) in the DAT and the actual file, but only 1 of them kept that, the rest have a ? in the band name…

Maybe I need to clear cache again, lol…I’ll try but I think I did already since fixing this…

i’ve done it before with clearing cache…something still goes wrong…as single files i think it works but if you pack them it doesn’t. and even after you alter the pack dta file….it’s ? or * that show up instead of the accented characters..

That’s a problem with encoding. I just checked my own release of Blue Oyster’s Burnin’ For You and in Notepad++ it shows encoding as ANSI. Try extracting the DTA, opening in Notepad++, make sure it’s set to Encoding in ANSI, and correct the name. Put the DTA back in the CON file. Reset your song cache and see if it works as intended in the game. I know the Tools have issues with this when creating packs. I don’t remember if I ever fixed that issue or not. But you should be able to edit the DTA file manually like I said.

                    Thanks a lot TrojanNemo,

Will the character Ö work in ANSI encoding or should I just use an O in that case?

I can confirm, lowercase ö in Bjork becomes an asterisk, and the uppercase one in Blue Öyster Cult simply vanishes (a space…”nothing” is there) in ANSI. I guess I’ll use normal English letters. :-P

I usually fix this by saving in basic Windows Notepad set to UTF8 rather than ANSI. I don’t know if it makes a difference that I am on PS3.
