Hello, I have two quick questions that would be great if I can get them answered.
1. I have a song that has no vocals but clapping. I was able to chart the clapping but Magma still wants a vocal note and will not create a CON file without it. What I did was just put a single note at the way end of the song. Is there another workaround for this?
2. When I go to add new custom it asks for the download URL. The best thing I can think of is using Google Drive, but how do I upload it to look like the ones that have the dl.c3universe.com URL download template?
I couldn’t find the answers in any other post or authoring document which is why I am posting it here. Thank you ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_smile.gif” />

I don’t know that the game will actually support a vocal chart with only percussion/clapping notes, but I don’t know that it won’t either. You can try using Magma’s MIDI override option to insert a MIDI without any vocal notes after the build process. But definitely test your custom before uploading it, in case a vocal chart with no actual vocals makes the game misbehave.

While you are welcome to link to customs on Google Drive, Mediafire, or any other such download service, C3 Universe is actually not a template for creating download links, but actual free space for authors that also gives you cool download statistics, both for yourself and for the community at large. If you haven’t found it already, the C3U login page will tell you what you need to get into C3U, and then once inside, the FAQ will help you get familiar with the place. Note that you won’t be able to upload customs to C3U immediately; as Nene~Chan mentioned, you’ll have to request space first. While logged in, when you click on your name in the upper-right corner, you should see a link to make the request. Note again that you’ll be expected to have a custom available for download somewhere else first, so that the C3U admins know you’re being serious about authoring customs.
July 6, 2020 at 9:43 pm #512590Hi FujiSkunk,
Thank you for the advice. It would not let be build a sound without any vocal notes in it and it didn’t ask me to override it.
I am unsure how to request space. When I click my name it says ACCOUNT – USER, CLASS – BEGINNER, and LOG OUT and I am unable to click ACCOUNT and CLASS. I read the FAQ but could not find help on this, any other help would be appreciated. I have two songs ready for uploading.
Thank you.

Magma won’t ask you if you want to use an override MIDI. You have to set the option your self and then prepare a separate MIDI file in addition to a MIDI that Magma is happy with. Then, as Trojan Nemo explains in this post, name your new MIDI “override.mid”, then enable the override option under Options -> ADVANCED SETTINGS in Magma.

And neither ACCOUNT nor CLASS are active links you can click on? Sorry, it’s been a while since I had to last request a bump. If neither of those are links, I’ll see if I can find the right answer (assuming someone else doesn’t post it here first). In the meantime, remember you can still use other file sharing services and then link to them when adding your songs to this site’s database.

Thank you for the override post link. I will try this method.
Neither ACCOUNT nor CLASS will allow me to click it. If you can find it (I hope it does not take up too much of your time) that would be wonderful. I know I can use something simple like Google Drive, but I wanted it to look somewhat official and nice ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_happy.png” />
July 25, 2020 at 5:20 am #513075Problem solved, thank you to rubydanger for helping. I had to actually upload a song for them to even consider giving me space, so I uploaded it and I am a starter now. Still working on the vocals.
July 25, 2020 at 7:05 am #513076You stiull have to have phrase markers over vocal percussion (I think) – that might be your issue??
July 26, 2020 at 6:04 pm #513090Hm, so I named my midi file override.mid, changed the advanced settings, and put the override file in the midi, and it still will not allow it. I created phrase markers but no overdrive because it would not allow for it if there are no notes. Here is what it says when I try to build the song. As a reminder, all I have are hand claps charted. All of the appropriate text events are there.

Then it’ll overwrite that MIDI with the override file. So chart whatever the game requires (i.e. some BS vocals) and then it should work out.
July 26, 2020 at 11:57 pm #513103Hi TrojanNemo,
Thank you for the reply. I tried it again and it makes the song misbehave when I play it on my Xbox by not registering any of the claps when I pat the microphone. The vocals only consists of clapping so I don’t know if the override function combined with only claps will fix it, should it? Thanks.
July 27, 2020 at 4:46 pm #513115Oh I don’t know whether the game mechanics will allow what you’re trying to accomplish. Just saying how to make it work with Magma. Whether the game will allow it or not, or crash or play fine, that’s up to the game. I’m not an expert on vocal charts and what works and doesn’t work in game. Sorry.
