Magma was meant to be used for RBN, so we are making custom songs using an exploit? Does Harmonix know about this?
Customs are made possible on an unmodded XBox 360 using an exploit, yes. The exploit was patched in Title Update 5, which is why customs only work on Title Update 4 or earlier.
Customs are not possible on the PS3 or Wii without modding the console, but there is extensive documentation on how to do so that, and then further documentation on how to add customs to your console once modded.
Harmonix is aware of the customs community.
Then why have they not shut it down?
Do they have bigger fish to fry?
Also, I think customs not working on Title Update 5 wasn’t intetional, I think there is some kind of DLC copy protection on TU5, and it makes the game impatble with customs.
I don’t have RB3 for Xbox360 at all. I do have RB2 though, and I use that to play custom songs.
If I remember correctly, you can use customs in TU5, with the severe limitation that the custom MUST use the tempo track of a legit Rock Band chart. It was possible to take an official tempo map and time your custom chart to it. It’s not ideal, but I added functionality to EOF to make use of this and it supposedly worked in TU5.
How you been here since March of 2019 and just making this post?
The reason they haven’t shut it down is because we (c3 in general) dont release customs of songs already released as DLC. So there’s no infringement on what they are doing. The moderators also remove songs that are becoming dlc. And any discussion of getting free dlc is taken down. The community goes out of their way not to give harmonix a reason to shut us down.
