This is my latest but I am having trouble…
The instrumental section of Bubbles is really tying me up in knots – I have spent a couple of hours on this section alone this evening and I am making no progress – is anyone able to help please…? I must have the time singature in this area wrong… the drum sequence I have mapped exactly to the audio – but the visualiser grid looks wrong and doesnt correlate as it should … whatever it is, it is escaping me.
Please PM if interested.
Thanks
April 28, 2020 at 5:44 am #511079I might be able to help you; however, the hardest thing for me to unwind of others is tempo maps. But listening to Bubbles, this is a straight 147 bpm throughout, so you shouldn’t see much of a time signature change. If you’re using the “Q” method (I think that was it), where you hit the Q button and the whole friggin’ track shifts, it’s possible you mangled your track. I no longer use this method to tempo map and creating customs have never been easier. You can tell this because in the BEAT track you’ll have beat markers no longer in multiples of four (as I know this track is 4/4 timing as well). Just open your BEAT track and look at it anyway. It should be clean 3 upbeats 1 downbeat all the way throughout. If it’s not, you have overlapped your map (Reaper does this and it’s really annoying, which is why I don’t use that method any longer).
If your track is good, the best way to see if you are accurate is to turn on the metronome. If there is one tip I can give anyone tempo mapping, it’s turn that thing on and LEAVE it on. You will quickly recognize which areas you didn’t get right and can correct them before borking the whole thing and having to undo so much. So start from the beginning and turn on your metronome and just listen to the song. If you metronome is keeping a perfect beat to the song, your tempo map is fine. If it isn’t, you’ll have to pull back your map and redo it from those parts.
Again, I MIGHT be able to look at your track and help, but no promises. So either PM the file or post a link to the file here (as some other wonderful person or persons might help before me).
Glad to hear more Biffy is coming.
April 29, 2020 at 7:16 am #511115Thanks Rob – now sorted… it isnt actually a consistent 147 bpm through the song.. the section in question changes to 150 bpm in a couple of places and then at the section where everything gets loud (!) – those two measures are at 153-154 bpm… these differences although small of course make a big difference further along the chart it not mapped correctly…. which is what I was finding when sticking to the more consistent 147 bpm…
Hope to have this finished tomorrow.

Not particularly interesting drum track on this one, but a good song nonetheless….

Scorpio – a devoted Scorpions fan I guess… I dont want to disrespect you but Rock My Car is my least favourite track on Return To Forever – it hits the
‘Cheese-o-meter’ at max for me…. along with Rollin’ home… (although that is a good sign along tune)
I have a couple of other customs planned for now.. if wanting, I will add it to my showcase… I was going to do ‘Raised on Rock’ at some stage perhaps that will win favour..?
