Hey all! I was watching some videos on YouTube & came across 2 weird changes in band lineups that really changed the 2 bands one for the better, one for the worse.

    1. Dragonforce – changed their singer from ZP Theart who originally performed with them & had their biggest hit with Through The Fire & Flames, but in 2011 switched to singer Marc Hudson who is undoubtably the better live performer even with their older hits.

    2. Van Halen – started with David Lee Roth who was king of the front men, but had a bit of an attitude, then switched to Sammy Hagar who had probably the best career with the band… then they did the unthinkable & had to switch to a new singer which ended up being the singer from the band Extreme (whom I love dearly), Gary Cherone. He sang so differently which was probably the worst part along with no chemistry with the band musically.

    What do you guys think?

Was fortunate enough to see both David Lee Roth, and Sammy Hagar perform Van Halen tunes at the same venue back in the 90s. What a blast.

I prefer the David Lee Roth years over the Sammy Hagar ones, but its a neck to neck race for me. Both were excellent!

Black Sabbath with Ian Gillan as the lead, that’s all pretty lousy stuff.

I can’t listen to the Barenaked Ladies without Steven Page, they have even played locally twice and twice I’ve decided that I don’t want to hear versions of my favourite songs without him as the lead. The 2018 reunion was promising, perhaps they will decide they are better off together again, one day.

I still like to imagine an alternate reality where Dave Navarro stayed with the Chili Peppers after One Hot Minute. I’m not saying it would be better, but it would definitely be different, and I’m sure I’d enjoy it.

*cough* Portnoy leaving Dream Theater, then having Mangini hired. <img decoding=” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_frown.gif” /> The drumming lost its soulfulness when MP left. Mangini is great but he’s too much at times. You don’t have to ALWAYS play like you’re trying to break speed records (which Mangini actually used to do).

    AND

Skiba-182. That’s all I have to actually say on that one.

John Bush needs to return to Anthrax, though I do love him back with Armored Saint.

Got to see them about 2 months ago, he sounds as great as always

    Gosh, where to begin…

    Yes without Jon Anderson. Meh.

Fleetwood Mac without Lindsey Buckingham. Double meh (one for every time he left or was forced out).

Eagles without Don Felder. He was shafted by the rest of the band.

    Styx without Dennis DeYoung. Ditto.

Journey without Steve Perry. Ditto again (though they’ve since made up and Perry appears to be on good terms with his replacement).

REO Speedwagon without Gary Richrath. I’m not as passionate about this one. I think it’s more that REO Speedwagon were already getting past their prime anyway. Still, I was sad to hear when he left.

Genesis without Phil Collins. Need we say more?

    Agree with both of these.

Journey should have retired once Perry was out. The replaces are so bad IMO. Cannot get into them at all and never will.

Reo is more depressing because Gary was born near my town so it just sucks to hear REO kept going without him. Crazy enough I lived in the same town as Gary for awhile and could have easily ran into him because he lives an every day life until his death.
