I play pro-drums on RB, just as much as I sing, but I have always been sort of confused when it comes to 1x bass & 2x bass. What constitutes a song being 2x? What is the difference between the 2? Like is it just extra notes or more realistic bass drum on a song? To me I always feel like 1x strips away notes on bass & makes it far too easy but then I see that it just adds in more notes if you have a second foot pedal. Am I the only one genuinely confused? Haha.

It means that the song is played on double bass pedal because it’s too fast for single foot to play

It’s not extra notes, it’s the actual notes for the pass pedal, which requires 2 bass pedals to play.

The 1x versions (when 2x versions exists/should exist) are dumbed down versions so that it’s playable with one pedal.

So technically its the opposite of how I thought. Thanks for clearing it up because I feel like I should be playing 2x. I only have 1 pedal but Im the type of person who wants to play the full experience.

If you want to play the full experience, get another bass pedal since that’s technically what is happening. Playing 2x on one pedal is not impossible, but it’s extremely difficult and especially when it’s for very long stretches. Get that endurance charged up, you’re gonna need it! =-)

Haha I need to get the attachment cause Ive tried to hook up a second pedal but Im pretty sure I need a specific attachment first. I try to do it with one foot but Im like 99% sure Im going to hate trying to learn to use my other foot but I gotta learn one day 😂

If you want the full experience you need an electronic drum kit.

Im going to definitely invest in that in the future. Just so expensive haha.

If you don’t have a physical second pedal setup yet, I would avoid 2x charts. There’s a reason they exist, and it’s to play a chart meant for specific physical equipment. It’s not impossible, but in most cases, it’s highly disincentivized. HMX got away with charting a decent amount of double bass parts on one pedal for “blast” sections and such (especially for the provided stock pedal on the RB kit), but 2x on here usually means there are either streams of alternating feet sections, or blasts consisting of 3+ kicks.

I have quite a few charts where x2 bass only has a few notes that x1 doesn’t have. I guess it depends on the author. I always felt like 1x should only have right foot hits (even though some authors over chart).

As mentioned above, if you are interesting in doing 2x bass pedal you really need an electronic drum kit. Hopefully you are NOT an Xbox person as the midi adapter required to interface the drums to the console is becoming very expensive on ebay due to their rarity. Again, I am speaking only from the Xbox perspective. I have seen many WII and PS3 adapters for a reasonable cost. Good luck!
