My requests went unnoticed so I decided as a beginner drum charter to definitely bite off way more than I can chew with my favorite underrated techdeath band’s latest album!
The following files are a couple days’ work, no multitracks but the notes all seem to line up well when played. I have no idea how to use the visualizer so I’ve only tested this on my RB3 a few times and though I feel I should be able to competently somewhat play it I think I messed up the charting at some points. But the drummer is Alan Cassidy so maybe I just suck ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_cheeky.001.gif” />
I don’t know how to use CAT either so EMH are charted with the idea that they never be used, just there to pass Magma checks. Notes seem to end abruptly but the song fades out and I wasn’t sure where to end it. I also want to add that I only use a single bass pedal so I charted this with that in mind, if you find any areas that could use more / less reduction or need to be a double kick instead of reduced please tell me. I will make a double bass version if this is well received!
No events, overdrives, or fills are charted yet.
Now remember I am a beginner and this is my first publicly released chart.. tear me to shreds! I want to know what I did wrong and what I can do better in the future.
Thanks for any help guys! ” src=”/wp-content/uploads/invision_emoticons/default_SA_biggrin.gif” />

October 20, 2019 at 5:11 pm #507545You’re off to a great start, especially considering how difficult of a song you decided to learn on. I went over the beginning part a few times (up to measure 28) to give an example of what kind of changes I would make. The biggest thing is how you have what sounds like a constant ride cymbal charted as alternating yellow/blue notes. That’s going to be really tiring to play and even if he was playing on two different cymbals, I’d probably still condense it down to blue only. Besides that, it was a matter of slowing the rate down to half and listening for when he switches from the ride cymbal to the crash. As far as the double bass, you’ll want to have a “PART DRUMS” and a “PART DRUMS 2X” so that when you compile in Magma, it will generate the single pedal and double pedal versions for you at the same time.October 21, 2019 at 2:23 am #507553Thanks for the tips so far! I also forgot to mention that they have an instrumental play through on their channel that I used for reference during some parts
I’ll go through my chart again and do what you mentioned Octopus, whenever I get any free time this week.
October 21, 2019 at 11:50 am #507554I love that he’s killing those drums while sitting in an office chair! Having that video is really useful for the fills like at 2:02 and the tom part at 6:09.
