Which band oriented game was more lack luster?

Im honestly curious because I actually liked just about all the band oriented games for RB & GH.

      AC/DC Rock Band

      Green Day Rock Band

      Beatles Rock Band

      Guitar Hero Van Halen

      Guitar Hero Metallica

      Guitar Hero Aerosmith

So for me Im going to say Aerosmith needed more. I wish they could have waited a little while longer then we might have gotten it in the World Tour style with Full Band. If Im going to pick a game though, Guitar Hero Van Halen seems to be the game that nobody cared for. It had hits but to me it was just boring. Some of the songs werent entertaining enough unless you were a huge fan of VH, & those damn solo songs were there just to be the hardest songs in the game. Yes, The Beatles Rock Band had missing songs that were huge hits & of course AC/DC Rock Band was basically just a live album that everyone wished (at least for me & my friends) were studio versions.

AC/DC is only a track pack and was marketed as such, so it doesn’t really count.

Aerosmith in retrospect should have been full-band, but that’s one of the few things I won’t fault Activision for, since Harmonix hadn’t yet established full-band games as a thing when GHA came out.

Van Halen is easily the worst of the full-band games, slapped together with no real input from the band nor any real desire to tell the band’s history. Overlooking the Hagar era was a crime. I’m glad we got the songs we did get, but it could have and should have been so much more.

The rest I think were good for what they were and what they tried to be. Metallica and Beatles are the best of the bunch.

I think Green Day: Rock Band and Guitar Hero: Van Halen are the most lackluster.

Green Day to me wasn’t nearly as exciting as Beatles Rock Band before it. Green Day Rock Band felt like RB2 with Green Day band members. Not like an entirely different game like Beatles was.

Van Halen only because that was to me where Guitar Hero got to the point where I was overwhelmed with Guitar Hero games and didn’t really care about them.

To counter yours though, I think Aerosmith is great. The Aerosmith themed guitar they sold was cool. The game did feel different enough from GH3 to me that it did feel like a new game. The songs were all really fun and entertaining and the band members seemed to really have personality.

van halen was the worst, it was so bad that if you bought gh5 you got van halen for free as well. and then van halen came out after gh5 but still has the old engine. on top of not being a complete game (story mode is a literal joke)

I only have Beatles and Van Halen, not enough to draw a conclusion…

Beatles is simply fantastic, but it’s easy when it has the music of the best band ever. It introduced harmonies, and Beatles were true masters of harmonising vocals. The game artwork is awesome, and even the intro a true piece of art. The only drawback is that it was too early to have the keyboard

I was a huge fan of Van Halen back in my teenage years and used to play their songs on the guitar (or rather tried). That’s why I wanted to get GHVH, and at a time when I didn’t know customs existed the game was of great value to me, even though I wasn’t interested in more than 5-6 non-VH songs on that disc. But all the VH ones were great to me! All instruments as well as for singing. I honestly don’t care much about story modes or gameplay elements such as challenges, I care most about the songs. Indeed the main drawback is the repertoire limited to pre-Hagar era, IMO either a licensing issue or a band’s decision against their former singer. Overall the game did not disappoint me at all, there were more songs in it I enjoyed playing than in any other disc except Beatles.

I appreciate the animation done in Green Day: Rock Band, but i agree that it needed more abilities that were in the beatles rock band… like a progression story.

Beatles was by far the best. You could tell so much effort was put into it to faithfully recreate and retell The Beatles’ legacy. It’s definitely the most artistic and the career line was excellent. I had a lot of fun playing that game and that’s coming from someone who’s not a huge Beatles fan. Not to mention the instruments were the best in the RB series.

Green Day was the polar opposite. As said earlier, just RB2 with Green Day skins (literally).

As far as the GH games go I own Metallica and Aerosmith but have only played the latter so I’ll have to say it was both the best and the worst.
