Are the scores saved to the individual song files or are they saved to the profile file? Would packaging the songs differently cause my high scores to be deleted?

Save are scored to your profile, unless the song does not have a numerical song_id value. In that case, it’s saved to the cache. Packaging your songs differently won’t make a difference.

so doesn’t matter the song id? they score still saves? it looks some of mine have been wiped out recently…

is it worth changing the song id’s to number value for the scores ?

not sure why they are missing now. does it matter if you take the usb back and forth for adding new songs?

non-numeric song IDs will be lost once you wipe your cache because they’re hosted there. Numeric song IDs are persistent because they’re tied to your profile.

so should i go a rename all the id’s? why would an author not give it a number id?

i didn’t wipe my cache to my knowledge…

can you batch change the id’s?

You can use my RB3 Scores Viewer to see them.

I believe they’re still saved in your save file, but for songs without numeric IDs, it references the cache to match the scores in the save. So when you erase your cache, the scores get erased because they can’t be referenced the same way anymore.

yeah this makes sense but i’m not clearing my cache!?

also i think your download link is dead

is it still worth renaming the id’s so it just works in game?

I think the cache resets when ever you get more songs?

ok that would explain things as i do check the daily new songs etc and add

It’s updated whenever the game detects new songs, but it certainly doesn’t reset. You can manually delete it, but that’s it.

so then they the scores shouldn’t be wiped out?

the numbered ones stay it’s some songs i’ve played that i assume with named id’s that seem to reset.

is it worth renaming them ? or are you saying they shouldn’t change/reset?

Scores of songs without purely numeric id’s that also aren’t too long should only be wiped out if you purposely delete your cache file.

You can change song id’s to ones that won’t be wiped, and MagmaC3 has a bulk feature for that. I did that for all of my old custom songs, that were created before this numerical song id stuff was figured out.

If you decide to do this, you will lose have to delete your cache one time, to make sure the songs will show up and are cached with their proper song id. As a result, you will lose your scores on those songs, but only this once.

If you have no reason to ever delete your cache, you may not want to do this.

is it easy to do in magma? can you give a quick run down on how to do it in a batch?

                        #500412

Be sure to be using MagmaC3 and not the regular old Magma.

Options -> Use unique numeric song ID -> Batch replace song IDs

This does of course require a valid author ID. I used the first 1000 valid song IDs provided to me, so if you don’t have a valid author ID, feel free to use those (enter 09062 as author ID) and you’ll never have a conflict with any other song in the database. If you need more, you can increase the number by another thousand, because for now, it seems unlikely I will ever author that many songs.

so i’m new here. didn’t realize when you run magma you have to set up an author id. so for the ones i want to rename now are those songs by people that skipped the author id? l

worked like a charm thanks a bunch!
